Great Pine Tar soap...if on the fence...give it a shot
So I have tried a few different men's bar soaps. There are things I have liked and disliked about each one. Why did I try this? I honestly liked the Squatch pine tar so I figured I would try this one due to the reviews saying it was comparable and the better price point. I just got it today so there are some things I can't really speak to yet (how long it lasts, if the grit is still there through the whole bar, etc) but others I can. Not really sure if I feel "moisturized" or "exfoliated" but I feel good and clean and my skin feels scrubbed a soft. My fiance also likes the smell. One thing I enjoyed most about the other pine tar soap was the grit. I like feeling like I scrubbed something when I get out of the shower ya know? The grit is a large part of what I was looking for and this product delivered. It is also a good size and seems like it would last long. I have used the Duke Cannon "big ass brick" which I enjoyed because of the size and longevity. This feels like a good combination of the two. I like the pine tar scent, the grit, and it is large enough to feel like it will last and like I am holding a full bar of soap when I pick it up. If you like the Squatch, I highly recommend trying this soap as well. In the fancy soap market, at 3 for 15 bucks, you can't go wrong with giving it a go. Just an fyi, it doesn't come individually packaged. Not an issue for me, and that kind of stuff is part of where the lower price point comes from. I just wanted to let you know in case it matters to you. So....if you like other pine tar soaps...give it a shot....if you like a gritty scrub....give it a shot....if you like a decent size bar of soap...give it a shot. Not sure about sensitive skin...I know it has the oils in it, but I would imagine the grit may be irritating?!? Don't really know.

A truly wonderful soap!
I love this pine tar soap! In case you're wondering, yes, this is the real deal. You can tell immediately upon opening the package that this soap has natural ingredients and no fake, overproduced smells. I happen to be very sensitive to overly perfumed soaps, even if the ingredients are natural. This Oliver Rocket soap has no strong or cloying smell, just the beautiful, soft, woodsy scent of pine and olive oil.I've always been partial to olive oil soaps, but it can be hard to find truly good, effective ones with natural ingredients. I had frankly given up on finding an "ideal" soap. My face has always been quite oily, and I've always had to soap up, rinse, and repeat -- one lathering, scrubbing, and rinsing wouldn't cut it. With this Oliver Rocket soap, I was truly shocked to find that after a single soaping up and rinsing, my face felt perfectly clean! Just to see if doing so would dry out my skin, I then soaped up and rinsed a second time. My face still felt clean, of course, but there was no sense of my skin becoming dry because of it. And interestingly, before washing the next morning, my skin felt far less greasy than usual. For me, it doesn't get better than that! But wait -- that's not all! One added fringe benefit I wasn't expecting is that the soap has imparted a quite subtle but beautiful scent that now permeates my bathroom. I happen to love it!All that said, here's one caveat: As the manufacturer clearly states, the soap goes into solution (and lathers up beautifully) upon contact with water. That means it's important not to place the soap anywhere where water will run or splash over it a lot when you're not using it; otherwise, it will dissolve fairly quickly. I have yet to see how long one bar will last if I follow this precaution, but I'm hopeful, though this soap is definitely not inexpensive. The pine tar soap works so well that I would hate to have to give it up because of cost.Anyway, if you like the scent of pine and prefer natural ingredients, by all means buy this soap! :-)

Great exfoliation and big bars
I liked the soap but I don’t think my skin liked the pine tar. No real negative effects just wasnt for me.

Great product. Great price.
This is great artisan soap at a great price. You will love the scent and the clean feeling you get from this soap. Buy now, with confidence, and spare yourself further reading. :) I tried the "yeti" guys and liked their soaps, too, but here is why I tried Oliver Rocket and why I am now a repeat buyer. Simply put, Oliver Rocket is every bit as refreshing and clean-feeling. The difference, to me, is the shape of the soap cake. The other guys package their soap in a cake that is approximately 4" x 4" x 5/8". By the time you are halfway through their bar, it is cracking into pieces. Of course, you can manage those pieces to avoid waste, but rubbing a handful of soap chunks on my body isn't nearly as functional (nor luxurious) as an intact bar. Same with soaping up a washcloth or scrub brush. And let's face it... you're not going to bother picking up the smaller of those pieces. Down the drain. Take a look at the pic of the Oliver Rocket bars above. Hefty. Same old boring? Maybe, but they maintain their shape right down to the sliver that you STILL don't want to discard and that's "bang for the buck". Am I cheap? Maybe, but we're talking artisan soap here, not a case of Irish Spring, else why bother with a review? Give Oliver Rocket a try. Top quality stuff. These guys deserve a look. Like me, you'll be back. Enjoy.
