Works Great When It Is Needed
It is a bit noisy, but when were these units ever quiet? Speed is good and is a great way to store additional data that is not needed daily. Installation was "Plug and Play", simple to accomplish, and easy to cable-manage. Device read every undamaged/unscratched disk I inserted. This unit also gives me access to a LOT of games I have not played in many years.

Works great with my older desktop.
I had an older computer that only had a CD Rom installed. I wanted to use it to burn CD's and use older programs that won't work on newer versions of windows. Plugged this in and it did the trick. Works great.

If you need a real DVD drive that won't be picky about what you put in it.
A good old-fashioned DVD drive you used to get in a computer, not like those flimsy DVD drives like they used to have in laptops.

Corrupted failed to run this drive
connected drive to power cable and data cable. when turned on Computer no cd/dvd drive seen in file manager. Did everything I could find out how to fix nothing worked. put in in another computer and it deleted Cd/DVD drive icon in file explorer. don't know why this happened, never had a problem like this. threw out the drive in garbage so discussed. went to divice manager on another computer after finding the driver location in Windows system 32 and copied it to flash drive and went to first computer that was not recognizing it and went to Widows system 32. and pasted ATAP IHAS 124 B. turned off computer and then file manager showed CD/DVD drive.

Good replacement DVD -+R rom drive
Replaced an older DVD/CD rom drive that would not recognize DVD roms or DVD movies. Tested and the replacement is working as it should.

Good replacement DVD drive
Used this to replace a broken cd/dvd drive in my desktop computer. Installed it myself. Fit was perfect and the drive has been working well after about 30 days of light use. Have not yet burned any discs with this drive, but drive has done the job for both listening and uploading data and music from discs. Price was good enough to prompt me to replace the old drive rather than use an external drive. Recommended.
