KEY-BAK Ratch-It Retractable Ratcheting Tether with 28" Retractable Cord, 20 oz. Retraction, Carabiner Attachment

I didn't realize how big this thing was. Don't get me wrong the information is all right there in the product details, but wow. I've added my normal work mouse (Logitech M705) to the picture for comparison because it seems more telling that specs on a webpage.Now all that being said, I don't think the size is a problem. I originally got this for my wife, but I think it's a bit beefy for her... but then she did marry me.... so who knows.I can't say anything about the build quality yet other than it feels solid. The retraction mechanism is tight. The one thing I don't really like is that it locks when you pull it out. I probably didn't comprehend this from reading the product description, but when you pull out the line it locks until you pull it again and it will retract. Unless you pull it too far, then it might only retract to the previous length. I could but out the calipers and run some tests to provide specifics, but suffice it to say it won't immediately retract when you extend the line.Overall it won't fit the specific niche I intended, but I'm not disappointed at all and I think I've got a use for it already... If my wife lets me keep it that is.Now the caveat. The primary reason I got this was because those stupid cheap retractable badge holders are always getting stuck in the extended position. If this goes that direction I will update my review because I can buy a LOT of those cheap little doodahs for the cost of just one of these. So we'll see.

Coming up on my third unit since December 2017.It does exactly what I need it to do.... but, the cord keeps on wearing out right at the attachment point to the plastic loop that holds the key ring.My current one looks already like it’s ready to snap.Keeps getting expensive if I need a new one every 5 months.Update: I just realized that the Kevlar cord is actually attached to the key ring holder with a knot.Well, that changes the whole picture now for me, instead of having to keep on buying new ones all the time, all you have to do is catch the moment when you see that the cord gets thinner right at that black plastic ring holder, cut it push the old knot out and pull a new portion of the cord through and knot it back up.I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it will work.I now feel good with giving it 5 stars, since it works really well. I cannot imagine working without it.One thing, I really hate though is the clacking of the keys, but obviously that is not the key ring's fault.I always tie a rubber band around the keys and that quiets it down.

I lose things. I leave things on busses, at train stations, just everywhere. Only answer I've found is to tie stuff to myxelf. These allow attachment without having lengths of cord hanging. I use this for heavier tools that the normal ones can't dealwith. Love these things very very much. Hope the price stays down

This was perfect for my husband at work as he is the key holder for equipment and also the shop he works at, this helped to make it accessible yet worry free where the keys were at all times.

This is a large well made heavy key holder and will work well for that. It is not designed to be an ID holder worn around the neck. It is simply too big.

5 months and the cord with the knot on the end pulled out of the unit.This was supposed to be one of the higher end units available for key retractors.Not thrilled

I'm currently on my third one in one year. One, the spring lock failed. The second, the ratcheting feature broke and wouldn't retract. The third, no issues as of yet. The first two were replaced under warranty

Locking ratch-it works great, unit is a bit bigger than expected. Unfortunately the carabiner was damaged out the box. Box wasn’t damaged so it must have been poor QC. The whole carabiner clip looks cheaply made, too bad because the rest of the unit looks good.

Didn't last long and the cord broke off the key loop and retracted into the spool
