Fun and potentially useful but not without some flaws
I'm kind of a weather geek and I thought this would be fun to have when the Santa Ana winds kick up in our neighborhood. I can't attest to its accuracy, since I have nothing with which to compare it, but it gives me a relative sense of wind speed and that's enough for my purposes. It could also be useful if you're trying to improve air flow in duct work and need to see if you're achieving anything. It would be helpful if there were something to indicate wind direction so you know which way to point to get the truest reading. The included lanyard is of some help, if you let it dangle freely, in getting a rough idea of direction but it's less than ideal. The unit also measures temperature but I'm less impressed with that feature. I've found it to be off by as much as 10% with temps in the upper 80s and it is not quick to react to temperature changes. I'm also a little put off by how this device handles some of the other wind speed functions beyond what's going on at the moment. For example, I would have expected that I could be taking readings for a period of time, then push the "VEL AVG" button to see what the average wind velocity had been during that time. Instead, it doesn't begin reading for average until you push that button...after which you will be seeing a running average wind speed from that point forward (until you select another function) but you will be unable to monitor real-time speeds for the duration. Likewise with the MIN and MAX functions, you will be able to record highs or lows over a period of time but you can't keep up with what's happening moment-to-moment. As a consequence, I don't anticipate using those functions very often. Also worth noting is that the maximum wind speed the unit will measure is 65 mph (30 m/s), so it won't be of much use in a hurricane. There is a "flashlight" on the back --- a single LED which you can use to observe wind-blown dust at night, I suppose. The battery (9V - included) compartment requires a screwdriver to open, rather than just sliding or clipping --- a minor inconvenience. The fan appears to be slightly off-balance, as evidenced by it always returning to the same spot when it stops spinning while held vertically. The same blade pendulums its way to the bottom and comes to rest as though it were drawn to a magnet. So, it's not perfect but it's fun and useful in relative terms.[P.S. I've included a photo of the spec sheet from the manual. I direct your attention to the "Specific Declarations" at the bottom and invite anyone to tell me what they mean.]

Great for troubleshooting air concerns
I got this because I've been having issues with my home HVAC. I'm able to measure airflow at each vent to determine is there is any loss of airflow. Easy to use and will display in various measurements.

Very Good, Accurate, Quick-Reading Product
I got these for use with my flying radio control models. For this use, they work excellently. They give a quick up to the minute site-specific windspeed and temperature that is more than accurate enough for this use. The anemometer is highly reactive and changes readouts quickly when held in a different direction from the wind to give accurate, up-to-the-minute crosswind components and headwind velocities. This would be handy for many other operations, including sports where objects fly through the air, kite flying, aviation, model rocketry, and more. The only negative I have is that the averaging function does not give the velocity over a prior time period but begins working when the button is pressed and then averages from there forward while the button is held.Overall, I really like this anemometer and would definitely get it again.

Very Accurate!
I needed this to do some testing of both fans and wind testing. Tested this next to a friend's $700 Anemometer. Both of our Anemometers had the same data. This unit is very accurate and comes in a nice padded case. I highly recommend this unit!

Very effective for general and comparison measurements.
It does a very good job for a lower cost meter. This is certainly not a calibrated laboratory instrument and I did not expect it to perform as one. We have a couple of anemometers for general purpose use/comparison measurements and this one is more sensitive than the other two we use. It is sensitive enough to read intake airspeed on a 25"x30" plenum (see example photo) and of course it works very well on exhaust ducts. Measures wind speed outdoors as well. The resolution is good enough to easily distinguish between a MERV 3 and MERV 5 filter on an HVAC intake. As previously mentioned, this meter is great for comparison use and gives repeatable results. For our purposes it is a very useful tool that allows us to visualize airflow and airflow patterns in HVAC and refrigeration installations. Whether Km/hr, ft/min or MPH - the units/scales on this meter allow a multitude of useful measurements to be obtained for general analysis. I can also mount this meter on it's 1/4-20 threaded socket to a tripod for extended measurement periods where we are recording a maximum or minimum flow as such function is a provision on this meter.I like the small size and ease of use. It's built solid, the measurements show repeatability and the menu options are very basic and easy to use. Great for our purposes - Two thumbs up!

Almost fun to use
We don't have a sailboat, so this is not what I use this device for. But we can get pretty strong winds that can wreak havoc, and I have always been curious just how strong some of these gusts really are. This Anemometer answers that question. Thankfully we don't have hurricane force winds, but I have measured gusts in excess of 75 mph.

Bigger than expected
I have no doubt this would do the job it was bought for but when I arrived it was just a bit bigger than expected and a bit bulky for me, so it was returned and replaced with a smaller design 🙂

Value for money.
Does exactly what it says on the tin and for a lot less than other brands.

Fairly accurate anemometer that anyone can use, that has a wide range of applications
The media could not be loaded. What's included:- 1 Wintact Digital Anemometer (WT87A) with 9V battery included- 1 Carrying/storage pouch- 1 Instruction ManualThe Wintact Anemometer is a fairly accurate wind speed guage that anyone can use and has a wide variety of use cases.BUILDThe Anemometer is largely made of ABS plastic but is relatively heavy that leaves you with the impression that this is well constructed. The sides feature a rubber grip which makes it easy to grab and hold the instrument during use, which is important on windy days if you do not have a mounting tripod. Speaking of which, there is a universal thread at the bottom rear of the instrument so it can mounted on a tripod for greater stability if needed. The diameter of the wind capturing blades is about 2.75ish inches in diameter making this a simple hand held anemometer that you need to ensure is not obstructed by your body when holding it to take wind readings. The eight (8) blade system is well designed and the blades appear equally spaced from one another, however if the blades spin fast enough you will see an ever so slight uneven spin to them which is a QA issue and should have been made more precise.EASE OF USE:The Anemometer is very simple to use and if you are concerned about being able to understand or use the instrument, its nothing to be intimidated about. In fact, quite the opposite. The LCD display is a good enough size that you can view it without difficulty when holding the instrument in your hand taking measurements. The numbers are fairly large however the measurement units are quite small however, its likely if you are in Canada you will likely be using Celsius for temperature so you likely won't need to worry about seeing that unit. You'll just know its Celsius. The display does have a backlight that can be turned on if needed and the backlight is evenly distributed so all areas of the display are lit up well. The instrument has a simple six button configuration which is self explanatory for the most part and has a few additional features like auto shutoff which take a little more effort to set up but otherwise, the buttons are easy and intuitive to understand and are of a good size and well spaced apart so you wont accidentally click on two of the buttons at the same time. Some additional features include having 5 units of wind speed measurement including m/s, ft/min, knots, km/h and mph. If you are looking for something that measures CFM for your HVAC system this is not it. The anemometer can also record maximum and minimum values and hold values that you wish to hold. Additionally, you can also record average speeds and switch between Celsius and Farenheit if you wish for the temperature.ACCURACY:I found this anemometer to have better accuracy at some things than others. For example, I found the temperature sensor to be quite accurate however the wind speed sensor to be more accurate with respect to some applications and less accurate in others. Keep in mind, that anemometer is one that I would consider to be a simple entry level instrument designed to appeal to as broad a base as possible because of the ease of use.USE CASES AND VALUE:For me, I have used this instrument to gauge windspeeds of various things around my house as well as having used it while taking a site survey in preparation for drone flights. At home, I have used it to evaluate my purifier's windspeed coming out of the machine as well as my panel heater's air velocity among others. Its done a good job in helping me at least get a good sense of how these things are operating in relation to other brands.FINAL THOUGHTSWhile I find this to be a good entry level anemometer I would point to the technical spec sheet that I have attached which will give you a sense of the limitations with respect to accuracy of the instrument. This should help you to compare apples to apples when comparing this vs other brands on Amazon and help you to determine what works best for you.In my opinion if I was looking for something that is very intuitive and can be picked up and used right out of the box without needing to do much reading and research on what everything means, this is a very good anemometer for doing just that. One last point I would make is the fact that a 9V battery is included and that's something I always appreciate because so often when you purchase something that requires batteries, you have to supply them yourself, so well done in this case. Therefore, when I take into consideration everything that this anemometer offers and the limitations and slightly off blade rotation, I would give this four stars. This is not your professional grade anemometer but it is something that everyone can use and get good overall accuracy.Cheers,
