This book explains the ins and outs of good digital photography
This book explains the ins and outs of good digital photography. It has a lot of excellent information that has helped me take much better pictures. It gets into how to think creatively when composing pictures. Lighting. Shadows. Depth. Focal points. And on and on. All well explained and very well illustrated. Current software packages are explained clearly with lots of pictures showing how to get the most our of my pictures. Amazing how small goof ups that would have killed the perfect picture can be recovered with understanding the capabilities of my software. This book has had a huge impact on the quality of my pictures. My artistic eye has been greatly refined. I understand my cameras and my software. I am definitely a better more creative photographer than I was before I read this book. It took awhile. There is an incredible amount of useful information presented.

Scott Kelby is the best. He is down-to-earth and very informative.
All of the Digital Photography Books are very easy to follow and to use. Scott Kelby is one of the best authors and I have used all of the books in this series and I think there is nothing better to help photographers be the best in the world. I recommended this book to all my friends and fellow photographers. Wayne

Vintage Kelby
Scott Kelby strikes again with an excellent step by step tutorial manual for creating beautiful photographic images. Atta Boy Scott. What I especially like is Kelby's simple, straight forward, not overly technical language that facilitates the translation from book knowledge to practice in the field. It's a gift that has contributed to Kelby's popularity as a photography instructor.Kelby's passion for high quality imagery is reflected in his work and that presence is infectious. I have found reading Kelby's book yields a feeling of excitement and anticipation to get camera in hand to start shooting as soon as possible. What I also appreciate is knowing that if my first attempt to replicate Kelby's outline for good photography does not work; I can go back to the book (drawing board) for a quick reference review and try again usually with good results.Thank you Mr.Kelby.

Just one question.
Good read. It does repeat some information found in Part 1 but is generally additive. I do however take exception with one tip found in parts 1 and 2. The pics of people holding the camera in "portrait" orientation look uncomfortable to me. When holding the camera in "portrait" orientation, I always for 30+ years, have rotated the opposite way so that the shutter is at the bottom, not the top. It has always seemed more natural. I guess I must be the only person in the word that to does that...considering the orientation of extra shutter button you get when you add the secondary grip attachment.

How to's from the PROs that will improve your photos next time you pick up your camera.
Excellent follow up on his 1st book. Learned a lot more good stuff. Even tho been shooting pics for years, Kelby gives you a bunch of "Duh" moments where you say-" why in the heck didn't I think of that!" Anyone who recently switched from 35mm SLR film to 35mm SLR digital need his books to understand the differences & similarities between the two. His books will get you taking great photos with your new digital in no time.

worth the money if you need tips on taking great photos
Love the booksTook the plunge and bought a new full-frame Nikon camera along with lenses and other assorted peripherals.Along with some other assorted books I bought both part 1 and part 2 of this books and I have to say this one seems to work the best for me with ideas for taking great photos.I recently shot three nights worth of photos for a friend of mine at work putting on a student play presentation and they were absolutely fantastic. These books helped me immensely in taking those photos. Thanks

Amazing
Learned even more and laughed hard on a few chapters. I read part 1 and now 2 in one week. Make sure to highlight the tips that stand out. You will forget them. The gear recommendations are awesome. When you contact others they don't really know what they are talking about and it makes it confusing.

... book is not written to bore you with facts like most Photography books
This book is not written to bore you with facts like most Photography books. Scott Kelby gets the information across with humour. Which means that it will probabily only appeal to people with his type of humour, and get up the noses of people who think that they are clever.

Good book
Bought this book for my husband as he already had pt.1. He says it is a very good book for the help and tips when using his camera, you have to get used to the authors style as he has a sense of humour throughout the book that you need to understand.

Useful guide to lighting
Irreverent, but helpful information from a knowledgeable guide. If you want to buy Digital Photography Book Part 3, you will need to buy this book before or at the same time unless you are already fairly expert at photographic lighting.
