I have never done wood burning before, but always interested in learning a new talent. I got this kit to learn with and I have enjoyed learning with it. The various shaped nibs create different types of lines and the temperature dials are easy to understand. This kit has been an amazing experience and I plan on doing more and more with it as I learn.

I really like this set, it comes with everything I need for my furniture burning projects. It's very well made and can't wait to get some vacation time so I can actually use it! It's just what I needed. Runs smooth.

The media could not be loaded. The screws that hold the nibs don't screw in all the way like the picture but I haven’t had any problems so far. I will update this later if it’s better or worse. I’m a noob burner but it appears to work just fine.

This is so much fun. It works well and has no problem burning wood. It is small and portable and lite weight.

I have a couple of the classic pen style wood burners, including one from when my mother was a kid in the 60's. While they all work as intended for burning wood, it is really cool to be able to control and change the temperature on this one to get more consistent results. The wire tips take a bit of getting used to after only using the solid metal tips but they're quite nice and I like that I am less likely to accidentally sink my tip into the wood like I frequently do with the metal chisel tips.I'm somewhere between novice and intermediate, I am definitely not a professional... but I really like using the professional wood burner. I am happy with it so far and will update my review if anything makes my feelings change.

I have a collection of small soldering iron style wood burning tools we got for a Scout craft project, and they work OK. This blows them out of the water. It heats up to burning temp in about 10-15 seconds, and responds to temperature changes within about 5. I tried a few different nibs to get the feel, and although I need a lot more practice, I had much better control and results than I have had before with the cheaper design. Tips are easy to change, and it came with a small storage box for them, as well as an appropriate screwdriver to keep with the unit. As the instructions state, test and practice, and adjust temperature - it makes a big difference on how quickly or slowly the burn happens. I tried on some ash, and a piece of cheap plywood, and the different woods behaved noticeably differently.The set comes with 10 tips of roughly 4 general shapes (variations in exact size and shape). A couple are similar, but none exactly the same. I will probably get a set of extra / replacement tips (there are tons on Amazon) to get a little more variety to experiment with as I learn, as there are many more shapes and sizes available than what is included. I don't know how long tips last, but I know they are considered a consumable.Just what I need - another hobby to interconnect some of my other hobbies!

I really like this wood burning kit. It works well and is made of high quality materials. I like the different nibs that come with it to give you more ways to play around. I also really dig the temperature gauge. That is a big step above the ones I used to use. This is definitely worth the money.
