Super handy USB to 9 V power converter — keeps my TP-Link router running from a power bank
I picked up this DROK USB to 9 V/12 V step-up converter to power my TP-Link router (which requires a 9 V input) directly from a power bank when the grid goes down — and it works exactly as I hoped. Instead of scrambling for a wall outlet during power outages, I simply plug the USB end into my power bank, switch the converter to 9 V, and my router stays online. It’s been a reliable backup solution that keeps my Wi-Fi active when I need it most. ✔ What I liked • Reliable backup power: The converter consistently delivers stable 9 V output from a standard 5 V USB source, so my router stays connected through outages. This has given me peace of mind knowing my network won’t drop unexpectedly. • Easy plug-and-play setup: Just plug the USB end into a power bank, flip the converter to 9 V, and connect it to the router’s DC input. No additional adapters or complicated steps required — it works right away. • Clear voltage indicator: The built-in LED display shows the selected output voltage clearly, so I always know I’m supplying the correct power. • Compact and portable: It’s lightweight and small enough to stash with my emergency gear or travel kit, and the cable length is good for routing without strain. ⚠ What to know • The output tops out around 1 A at 9 V, so it’s important to make sure your device’s power draw stays within that range — in my case, the TP-Link router runs perfectly well on this. • Best suited as a backup or temporary power solution (e.g., during outages or when on the go), rather than a full-time substitute for a dedicated power supply. ⭐ Final Verdict This USB-boost converter is a simple, effective way to run a 9 V device from a USB power source like a power bank. It gave me exactly the backup power solution I needed to keep my router online during outages, and the easy setup with a clear voltage display makes it very user-friendly. ✔ Highly recommended if you want a reliable backup power option for routers and other small 9 V devices.

USB to 9v/12v adapter
Works great. I use it to power a 9v TP link router with a USB power bank. And it's nice to know i can also use it for 12v if i ever need it.

Only 12V work
The 12-volt output works well enough for my needs, but the 9-volt output does not work. It's a good thing that I specifically need 12 volts.

Great replacement charger
We needed to find the right size to fit in an old Audiovox DVD player so we bought additional connectors. Works great!

Very poor performance compared to some others I tested
I had high hopes. I really like this brand and have had good luck with other products from them, but not this one. I bought similar products from several brands then measured them for voltage regulation and ripple using an electronic load, scope and volt meter. This one was the worst performing of all of them. With 250mA load the voltage sagged about 300mA. The ripple was around 75mV with a nasty triangle top and square wave bottom, not even a rounded typical wave (discontinuous mode artifacts?) at about 400KHz. The competition was around 1mV PP rounded wave at 3MHz at a similar load with under 10mV of voltage sag. This might be good for non critical applications but clearly for anything that needs clean 9 or 12V there are way better products out there that do this for less $$$.

This works awesome on my guitar pedal board!!!! I completely mobile now with my rig.
I wanted something I could power my guitar pedal board with a simple battery powered USB pack so I can play anywhere without worrying about find a wall outlet. This served the purpose perfectly and has been rock solid. I glued the 9v / 12v switch into the 9v position so I don't accidentally over voltage my pedals and for this application you need a plug to reverse the polarity of the output plug. I also have a breakout cable to run multiple pedals off this one power supply. It produces a very quiet output voltage. The only issue I had was one of my USB Battery packs produced an audible hiss in its output that this supply did not filter, but that was the battery pack and not this supply. Works great and worth the price!

It actually works!
I like how it has an LCD screen that tells you if it's operating at 9 vs 12 volts. I use this to power a camera via a USB to DC power adapter to avoid having to drain the camera's stock batteries. I used to use a battery bank/power bank that had a dedicated DC out, but those are impossible to find these days. This adapter allows me to use regular power banks and step up the voltage to meet the needs of my camera without sacrificing too much power during the conversion. The only thing to note is that this has a hard time working in sub-freezing temperatures. Generally, it works well above 36 degrees Fahrenheit. If you intend to use this in colder temperatures, you may need to cover it with a hand warmer or keep it close to you inside a pocket to prevent the components from freezing.

If you need exactly voltage conversion, you might look elsewhere.
I was looking for an accurate step-up converter to bring a 5V output from a power bank up to an even 12V. This converter from DROK does step-up the 5V output as I was wanting, but it doesn't convert to an even 12V like I was hoping. The converter says 12 on the LCD panel, but my Fluke meter sees 12.24 VDC. When the switch on the converter. is on 9V, my meter reads 9.26 VDC. I may not be able to use this for my particular application as a result. Luckily, the converter is just a few dollars which makes the loss easier to stomach.
