Chess and Draughts Game board, Portable Wooden Family Chess Board for Kids and Adults

Things started off questionable and went worse as time went on. Let me explain...The pieces arrived in neat zip bags within the drawers but they were awfully dusty. As this is a gift for a friend I thought best to wipe them all down, including the pieces inside. I only used a really gentle wipe but unfortunately the brown colouring started to come off on the draughts pieces (luckily didn't have the same issue with the brown chess pieces). My concern would be if anyone has sensitive skin as my fingers were stained pretty badly afterwards. Perhaps my own doing, but I couldn't leave the layer of chalky dust on the gift either. Does make me question what type of dye has been used on the pieces.I panicked when I opened the drawer and only the draughts pieces were inside - thought I had need had, but NOPE, turns out there's a drawer on each side of the board and that's where the other chess pieces were hiding.The board / box is rather sturdy but the drawers aren't a flush finish. The chess pieces have a small felt? underneath whilst the draughts prices are just wooden with no finish on the underside.Nice and easy to follow instructions on the back of the box which was great as I've never really been able to understand the rules of chess but this example was easy to follow.Is it a nice gift for family, yes. Is it likely to impress someone as a gift...well not unless you remove the outer packaging and add a pretty bow. It's fine for the price point it's at but if you'd like a nicer finish then perhaps spend a little extra.

I absolutely love this! I'd been searching for a while for a product that looked good quality but was also sturdy and tidy in design, this product does all of those! I love the compartment drawers as it makes storing the pieces super easy. The board is a great quality and the size of the actual pieces are great, the queen was slightly discoloured but honestly, I'm not that bothered by it, not every piece of wood is the same in a tree so it's fair enough to assume that some pieces would be slightly varied. This board game has become a staple of my family nights :)

The chess and draughts set was a Christmas present for my 7 year old grandchild. Both child and parents were delighted with this set. It is well made and I'm sure will last a lifetime. I would advise anyone thinking of buying a chess set to consider this one.

Lovely little Chess and Draughts set to play with the children. None of us had played either of these games before but the instructions are so simple, so we have picked up a regular family hobby!
