A little boys dream
My son loves this book. He can be busy with it for hours

Very neat book — great for car rides.
Very cool book for my 3-year-old boy who loves construction and “busy” pages in books. His only complaint, if he was involved in this review process, might be that there aren’t really many construction VEHICLES to see on each page. And the vehicles and big machines are his jam. Therefore, he’s not QUITE as interested in this book as he is in some of our Big Wimmel Books featuring more vehicles/trucks/cars.

Great fun but not necessarily for the age group listed...
The book is listed for the '5 and up' crowd, but I would recommend it more for the 4-8 year old with a particular interest in all things construction. The pictures are packed with fascinating little details that are fun to look around and hunt for. For example, there is someone eating in every picture though there is one page that I haven't found the guy/gal yet! The action covers the demolition-through-construction of a new school over the course of the year. Not all months are shown, but each one has a nice theme (ie placing the floors).I would have found this perfect for my oldest when he was young...he was an avid fan of construction (I'm pretty sure that was his first word), but I bought it for my more 'builder minded' 10 year old. He was unimpressed. Really, this was only due to his age and I actually had fun going through it.So, highly recommended for the happy construction/builder fans, but I would say for the 4-8 year olds with the younger ones looking at it with their parents.JTG

The best toddler pocket book about construction ever!
My son has gone crazy about construction sites etc after getting this book. He has been reading it again and again and again every day and before going to sleep - it's very colorful, has lots of tine details about construction site and gives a toddler an opportunity to look at construction inside. You can easily tubularize it and put into women bag, so we take it anywhere if we go with our son.The only issue that confused me - there was some wrong picture, I don't remember which one as I don't have the book beside me. Smth with pipes I guess... or electricit... The point is that the real process differs from the one that is pictured. Anyways, we have explained our son that the painter had made a mistake and that it (mistake) may happen with anybody)))

My 4yo loves this book
Every time it's a slightly different story. There is a lot of detail and action going on. Sometimes kids' books get boring the more and more you read them. This one has so much little stuff going on, and "jokes" that run through the book its always an adventure. Not a lot of words, so kids who can't read yet can still "read it" alone and make up their own stories too.

Easily accessible for boys and girls.
This is a wonderful search-and-find book for preschool-age and up. It's colorful, busy, and detailed, but not overwhelming. A lot of construction books seem gender-biased for boys, but this is easily accessible for boys and girls. I think it has something for everyone. I read the description and thought it would include each of the 12 months of the year, but it only covers 8 months. So, just keep that in mind - it's more of a seasonal look at the construction site rather than a true month-by-month.

A great book for a youngster to identify with the various stages of building construction
It's not often that a 4-yr old can identify with the various stages of building construction, but this booklet allows just that. It's real-world approach to the various stages and what to look for relates to what is seen as we drive by construction sites to reinforce what we have just read. I don't know if he will be an architect or civil engineer, but this book is a great start to learn about how a building comes together.

he's still searching for the clues like it was new to him but he thought it ...
I gave this to my 3 year old grandson who lives a plane ride away. At a resent visit his mother said he insists on us reading this to him every night. She informed me it was my turn! You know how kids are. Well, he's still searching for the clues like it was new to him but he thought it was new to me so he put on an act. But he loves it! Also bought A Day at an Airport. Both are his favorite books and he has hundreds!

Good book for young builders-to-be
Bought this as a present for a young female relative who loves anything to do with building. Nice, detailed illustrations and I like the way it shows the progress over time on the building site. Also good how the child can spot different things on the pages. It could do with some female builders or tradespeople as I haven't noticed any in the book. This is why I deducted one star.

Gran's moments of pleasure.......
......... sitting with my two 6 and 7 year old grandsons as they studied the wonderful drawings to find the workers. Watching them discover how a building site works and how each trade is added to enable the building to progress. A fantastic book for all children who are interested in their surroundings and an education for Grans, too!

Nice but small
This book is very nice and very interesting for kids. But the size is too small, the pages thin.
