Reasonable value for the price But be careful
As I begin writing this, I am still sitting on the fence about giving it 3 stars instead of 4.... Here is why:The electric cord is quite short, I have had to push it right up to the wall by my outlet, and cannot move the device more than an inch in any direction without it tending to topple. The design of the lid has two problematic faults - one, I have to reach over the Steaming lid to open it with force (hot!); & two, when the lid is opened after after emptying the boiling water, the steam condensed on the lid dribbles past & often onto my hand that is holding the kettle!!! (also hot hot hot!).In itself, it is a cutsey design on the countertop, lightweight, pours handily. The red button for turning on the boil is remarkable, (on my model), for requiring conscious pressure; otherwise, it will not turn on. I do not mind this personally because our last electric kettle, which died, (after daily & frequent-through-the-day use), at about two yeas of age tended to turn on with the slightest accidental pressure.I will follow up the review once this one has died... hopefully at least another two years? But next time, I intend to purchase a metal one that I have investigated the design closely for curious flaws such as exposed structural forms on the inside of the lid that can cause severe burns :-/Update: We have had the kettle less than a year by about 6 weeks (purchased 24 Sept 2016). The noise remains lite but the issue reported in some of the reviews, that the switch stops working, had now occurred. :( Quite sad about that... and cannot decide if it is worht another £10 + for less than a year.

Good Buy
Please bear in mind the following description is as 'compared to my previous kettle'(of which u probably were not acquainted :)) ..)Good Points:Pleasant appearance.Nice kettle, pours neatly, unless u tip it forwards 2 far.Lid is a snug fit(needs a firm tug to open same...of course there are - and + points to this feature)Grip is comfy. As others have mentioned the lead is quite short(a bonus in my kitchen).'On' switch is sturdy and lights up red wen pressed down.Automatically switches itself off.Is a fast boil.BUTAlthough here is a 'see through' panel incorporated on both sides of the kettle-this idea would be more useful were it NOT tinted 'nearly black'.I didnt realise this wen i purchased the kettle. If situated in a corner niche or a dimly lit kitchen(dull day/lo evening lights) its not possible to see the water level. Picking the kettle up and as one gets familiar with the weight of kettle + water one might b able to instinctively judge the amount of water in it but mayb for an elderly/slightly 'sight challenged' person this would be difficult to judge visually and could b a possible safety hazard. So:If ur a person constantly in the midst of an emergency... rushing in2 the kitchen for a comforting cuppa ... and r a bit of a ' glance & switch flicker' bware ;P .. and mayb choose a kettle with a lighter coloured water level panel. ... .. . . otherwise, enjoy.

Year+ and Still Going
This is probably the best purchase I have made that was meant to be temporary but has lasted longer than I expected. Originally this was bought for on-set drinks making facility on a tiny budget for a student film. But now belongs in my kitchen where it is used everyday (and probably about 10 times+ per day) and further film sets.I wouldn't say it takes long (unless you fill it to the rim, I suppose, but seriously you shouldn't be doing that anyway due to the electricity consumption, and that will kill any kettle you buy even a £50+ one if you do that often.).It is easy to pick up (even with water in) and easy to move around due to this and it not being bulky (very slim design). Hence, it is great to move around with me on sets across the world.Limescale hardly builds up, but if it does it's easy just to put some fairy liquid in and boil it once then again with just water, this lasts again for around 6-8 months? And this is with heavy useage on set and at home.I will recommend this wholeheartedly and I will probably buy another one for just my film sets in the future!

Didn't last
Now it could be that the house I live in drinks a ridiculous amount of tea and coffee but while it was OK for a few weeks it broke down soon after due to overuse

Really like this kettle!
Arrived within the stated time frame and am really enjoying using this kettle.Read the instructions fully first. I noticed in some reviews where customers were having trouble, had they read the instructions properly, I doubt if those troubles would have occurred!

A nice kettle at a bargain price
We had to send for a kettle in a hurry, as our Aga broke down and we really needed one. We chose this because it was inexpensive and had some good reviews, and it is amazing value. Ordered late one afternoon, it arrived the next morning, and I can't fault it. As many have pointed out, it is very light, and therefore ideal for anyone who has trouble lifting (I'm going to recommend it to a disabled relative, as she has problems lifting her kettle), has a good capacilty, and boils quickly. it's true that the flex is short, but this does ensure that small hands can't so easily get hold of it, and it shouldn't normally be a problem. It's also very modern and chic-looking, and would suit most kitchens. My only slight gripe would be that since the colour is so dark, it's hard to see how much water is left, and this can be a mild nuisance. But overall, a very good buy. Recommended.

Very good
The kettle is much quitter than my old one when boiling but not quite as fast. It has no lip around the edge so you can empty it out easier for descaling purposes and that's a big plus. However, the pouring will cause some people to overspill until they get used to it. I had no issues but my girlfriend made a mess the first few times as she was used to a narrower spout and because there is no lip around the edge you must make sure that the lid is closed properly or it will seep out when pouring and has no internal light to show how much water is in it. Other than that this kettle is neat and looks good but the cord is not overly long either so it must be kept reasonable close to the socket. I like it though and overall I would recommend it.
