Quality Kitchen Scales
I'm really happy with my kitchen scales 😃 Finally being able to purchase kitchen scales that come with a bowl, & the bowl being stainless steel 😀 Batteries were also included with it 😃 Looking forward to using the scales to get accurate weight of ingredients. The scales came much sooner than the estimated time 😃 Good value, quality & price 😃 I'm happy with my purchase 🤗

Excellent Quality, Very Good Value
Good looking design with glass top and a sturdy build for it's diminutive size. Accuracy is excellent. They are very easy to use. The tare function is handy i.e the ability to reset the scale to zero when something is already on it. This makes adding ingredients very easy. I bought it to assist my gym training where control of calories and macro-nutrients are important. This accurately lets me know exactly what food size portions I'm consuming and combined with the MyFitnessPal app lets me work out calories and macro-nutrients with ease. This is particularly good value as there appears to be an identical scale here on Amazon simply with a different brand name put on it at a much more expensive price. Bear in mind this scale was originally £29.99. I spent a while looking at scales on Amazon and these were by far the best for the money I spent.

Fantastic for the money
These scales are great! Some reviewers have commented on the 'quick' turn-off time if you leave them for too long, I suppose that depends on what your definition of 'quick' is and how you organise your cooking ingredients, but I have found a minute is long enough for me. The biggest benefit for me is the minute increments you can measure in in terms of grams, and also the fact you can measure liquids like water and milk without a measuring jug, and again in much smaller quantities, accurately. The scales are easy to wipe clean and sit neatly in the cupboard in my kitchen, although they'd look smart on the worktop if I had room to keep them out permanently. Larger bowls will over-hang the display sometimes, but I just re-position the bowl towards the back of the scales rather than centering it on the top, and it measures just as accurately - and from what I've seen most of the popular makes and models of digital scales are more or less the same size anyway. So, in essence, if you're going to pay for a set of domestic digital scales that look good and do the job well why pay more than this? I'd recommend them.

Excellent
Late in 2011, I bought the "Salter Slim Design Electronic Platform Kitchen Scale" and put in a review here. I was very positive, mainly because - like I think many other reviews here - they were the first scales of this type we'd had and it had been a revelation how much easier they are to use than traditional kitchen scales. I did comment that, despite the "gadgetey" appearance, they felt flimsy and poorly made. Well after a year, they went wrong, so I had to get a replacement. These Duronic scales were the highest rated on Amazon so, despite never having heard of "Duronic" before, chose these this time. Compared to the Salter scales they seem functionally almost identical. The display and the way they work seems indistinguishable to me, so I suspect the electronics are actually the same. However, there are several features I prefer about them: 1. The weighing platform is made of glass and is separate from the control buttons, so I can wipe the surface with a damp cloth without the risk of water getting into the buttons. 2. The buttons and display, being on a separate and slightly lower ledge at the front are easier to see when a large dish or plate is being weighed. I have noticed that these scales power-off more quickly than the Salter ones - sometimes before I've finished weighing things. It's not usually a problem but I can imagine rare situations where it might be. They share the irritation (for me anyway) of having two modes for measuring capacities (fluid-ounces and millilitres). This is pointless and only valid for liquids whose specific gravity is the same as water. For these, it is surely obvious to everyone that, for example, 5 fl oz of water weighs 5 oz, so there's no need or value in a separate mode that does this. Just to illustrate this imagine you're using a recipe that calls for a cup of flour; you remember that a cup is usually defined as 8 fl oz, so you set your scales to the fluid ounce setting and measure flour until it reads 8oz. However, if you check you'll find you actually have about 12 fl oz of flour. It's misleading to anyone who doesn't understand this and pointless to everyone else. Anyway don't be put off. These scales are attractive, light and convenient, work extremely well and are very cheap. If they fail after a year, I'll just buy another pair - it doesn't really matter too much.

It's OK.
The weighing platform being rectangular is practical and the function buttons are large and easy to use for which I would have rated these scales with 4 stars BUT the auto switch off is a bit too quick so 3 stars. Even with all ingredients to hand I have been caught out and it has switched its self off, I have used other scales which have had a longer delay for the auto switch off function.

didn't work
Nice looking unit, but dead on arrival - put in more brand new batteries, lasts a few seconds & then died again

Good value for the price, accurate ans still going strong after 2 years of daily use!
I have used it intensively (=several times a day) for the past 3 months and it's fine so far, I haven't had to change the battery yet. Seems to weigh quite accurately to 1-2g. I like the glass top (easy to clean) and the fact that the buttons and screen are below so you can access/see even with a big bowl on it. As mentioned in other reviews, the automatic switch off is sometimes a bit annoying when you're weighing several things in a row, but it still takes more than a minute so after it has happened a few times, you just know it and pay attention. At least that saves the battery! I don't know if it will last long, but so far I am happy with my purchase considering the cheap price. EDIT December 2015: after 2 years of daily use (!), this scale is still going strong. The batteries last for a while, and it never failed. I didn't think it would last that long, thus changed my rating to 5 stars!
