wooden puzzle
Comes out beautifully but some pieces are very fragile. They give you extra but still be very gentle with it!

It takes a steady hand. Parts are very small.
I enjoyed putting this item together. I made it for a friend. I think she will be quite happy with the violin.

Rokr Entry Level Products
This is in a line of wooden 3D puzzles that I like to call "Entry Level" wooden model kits. My favorite part about these kits is that you're not out a ton of money when they disintegrate in your hands. And they will. This particular kit had all of the right back up pieces, though, and I didn't have to modify it in any way. It gets an extra star because the finished product is so cool. It did have some issues, though. The strings were problematic. They came all twisted, and I couldn't figure out how to straighten them. I actually wished they would have used some plastic twine instead, and it probably would have been cheaper. I'm actually kind of upset that I threw away some plastic twine that had come with another Roker kit just recently, as that would have really come in handy for this. The one fragile part of this kit is the headstock. It has three pieces, and I broke them all several times. There are enough backups, though, so even though I glued all of the broken ones back together, just in case, I was able to complete assembly with the final backup of each piece that did not have any glue. The only glue I used was for the stickers. The chrome stickers that come with the kit are kind of worthless. I didn't even realize they were stickers until the last one. They wouldn't peel off of the backing, so I removed them from the sheet with an exacto-knife and glued them on. The very last one had the backing peel off. Incidentally, that's the only one I messed up.The skill level required to complete this is, in my opinion, 5/5. It takes a bit more skill than just wood model building to assemble this. However, I think this kit typically sells in the $10 to $15 range, so the benefit is that if you are a beginner and buy a kit like this, you will learn a lot for a pretty inexpensive price if you can keep yourself from getting frustrated. Pieces will break. The key to kits like this is knowing what to do when that happens. Sometimes, the kit will become unusable. If it does, you're only out $15. And if you can find a way to plug along anyway, you're getting more than $15 worth of experience. Just make sure you have some strong wood glue on hand. Overall, the stickers and the metal strings cause this kit overall to take a serious beating on its overall rating, but I did not have to modify any pieces in order to complete it. I would have, though, if I had had the proper materials to do so. The crooked strings take away a lot from the look of the finished product, and I'm quite convinced that if I used plastic twine instead, the effect would be epic.So we dock two points for the quality of the materials but add one back on because the finished product, strings or no strings, is pretty cool.EDIT: Unfortunately, I was not able to write a separate review on the electric guitar, which is unfortunate because that one gets a 5/5. I have enclosed a photo, though.

This turned out so cute and was easy to assemble. The instructions made it a breeze.

REALLY?
I have been putting together ROKR puzzles for years. I absolutely loved the time I acted to set aside just to so them. Unfortunately, this puzzle was far removed from the sheer wonderment I had become led to entertain when it came to my TOTAl appreciation of the designers/developers of what I once considered as the state of the art when it came to puzzles. This super fragile violin puzzle failed to produce nothing other than pure frustration (I actually received the saxophone puzzle today, but I have refused to even open the package because I DO NOT want to have to process through the same frustrations I encountd with the violin, EVER again.Unlike the designed integrity of the other ROKR puzzles that have acted to captivate me for years, the wood alone on this puzzle (and probably the saxophone puzzle), is so thin, so fragile that the pieces broke while I was carefully trying to remove various pieces from the panels. Rarely did any one of the pieces I was becoming instructed to secure together—“pop it right in that hole”— actually remained secured into place. I was finally led to have to use super glue just to keep the pieces to hold together. The final straw came when I was almost finished and the neck of the violin snapped in half, as I was continually forced to apply undue pressure to simply to keep the unglued areas from popping out of place. This puzzle was anything but fun and frustrated me beyond measure. In fact, I will admit: the spell these ROKR puzzles once held over me for years stacked end to end has become TOTALLY broken. PLEASE!!! If you love ROKR puzzles, do NOT buy into the sheer frustration the Violin Capriccio or the Saxophone serve to represent. Don’t risk breaking the spell most of the ROKR puzzles may continue to hold over you, like they once did over me. Maybe I am sounding a it over-dramatic, but I lost a “connect” with a something I once thoroughly enjoyed: piecing together still another ROKR puzzle.Keep your “connect”, your joy with ROKR and do NOT buy these two puzzles, as they are NOT worth the frustration.

Challenging but fun!
This was my first wood building kit, and I can tell it's definitely not for beginners. I had a lot of trouble with the outer rim of the guitar, so be super careful with that part. It turned out beautiful though and I'll be getting other puzzles in the future
