An attractive model of an iconic aircrft
This is a push-fit model based on the Lego principle. It is cunningly designed in coloured plastic pieces which when assembled give a convincing camouflage finish without any painting. The propeller does tend to fall off as it is just a push-fit in its bearing. This necessitates removal of the engine cowling and reinsertion of the propeller and bearing. There is a risk that the bearing could easily be lost as it is a very small item. I cured this problem by putting a very small dab of glue on the bearing before attaching the propeller (the propeller still rotates freely). There are no guns or gun ports on the model although the box shows a Spitfire with all guns blazing. There are however wheels in the retracted position. It would have been a nice touch to have included a pilot to go in the cockpit. My 5 year old grandson and I assembled the kit in about an hour. He identified each piece and where it should go. I pressed the pieces together as some finger strength is needed to ensure a robust assembly. I stuck the decals on, as they are a bit tricky to get in the right position. There are about 36 parts to assemble in a similar number of steps. The pictorial instructions are generally clear, though the colour printing has a slightly muddy appearance for some reason. This is an attractive model of a beautiful, iconic aircraft at a reasonable price.

Exactly as expected
Item was easy to build and exactly as expected. Used as a cake topper to good effect. The only thing is the stickers go over the brick build. So once built you cannot take it apart without taking off the stickers.

Great starter sets
Bought as a gift for my 6 year old who's recently developed a great interest in planes. The other types of Airfix models just seemed far too complicated for him so was delighted to find these quick build models. A great way to get youngsters interested without the mess of glue & paint. My son found the instructions more difficult to follow than in Lego sets he has built, but he did manage to build it himself. Decent size once built, and surprisingly sturdy. Looks great on display in his room! He enjoyed the kit so much he has already spent some of his Christmas money ordering the Bae Hawk model.

We built it together and I have to say it is much better quality than I was expecting
Bought this for my granddaughter's WW2 school project. We built it together and I have to say it is much better quality than I was expecting. I remember Airfix kits when I was a kid having to be shaved, sanded and manipulated to fit, but this is precise and robust. The way the plastic has been coloured so that you don't have to paint it in camouflage colours is ingenious. And the way it all snaps together like a giant Kinder Egg toy is very clever. I read some of the one star reviews claiming poor fit and bits dropping off, I would suggest they weren't following the instructions! We did have a couple of problems until we realised where we had gone wrong, but that's the fun of building a kit. Is it suitable for a 5 year old? Well my granddaughter is 9 and I think might have taken a lot of time and run out of patience. But that's what granddads are for.

Excellent introduction for younger modellers
I bought my son the F22 Raptor quick build for Christmas which he loved, and we were pretty impressed how well it went (and has stayed) together. He decided he wanted to spend his remaining Christmas money on another kit, and he wanted the Spitfire. I am most impressed with this kit especially the size of it, normally kids toys have a large box and a small toy inside but in this case its much larger than the Raptor, I was expecting it to be around the same size as normal 1/72 Airfix kits, but its more like a 1/48 scale being about 25cm wingspan. It looks really good and he's so proud that he builds these alone, hopefully this one is as robust as the Raptor.
