One Indian Girl

This is a lovely story. It's simple, amusing, sad and inspiring . The reader is given a glimpse into a different culture and I thought that was interesting. The book is light hearted, a bit predictable, but an very enjoyable. I want to know what happens next.

I enjoyed reading this but I got a bit bored towards the end of the characters indecision. It was quite implausible, even though the stories themselves were good. I hope Radikhas mother was a caricature, but I fear she is not.

I popped on to Goodreads to mark I'd finished One Indian Girl and was surprised at its run of one star reviews and the vehemence of their comments. This seems to be a real Marmite book! Personally I thought it was OK, especially for a romance read (which isn't my preferred genre) blended with scenes of pure farce. The eponymous Indian girl, Radhika, is a fun character to spend a few hours with and I liked her first person narration style. An overachiever intellectually, she is remarkably naive socially with a lack of confidence that struck a chord for me. Admittedly some of the dialogue is awkwardly clunky and, despite its feminist protestations, there's no great depth to this story, but I think One Indian Girl would be a entertaining light holiday read.

A nice easy read with a few interesting turns and twists. Worth reading if you want some inspiration and escapism.

This is s such a great love story but not in the normal way, a heartbreaking but inspiring story. Thank you, I loved it.

This is a trademark Chetan Bhagat story. Written lucidly, the book charts the story of an average Indian girl who if career-minded but has to explore her sexuality as well.

I would recommend this book to few of my friends for sure , who i know have read all previous books of Chetan's and yes this book is completely different story compare to all others and specially as this one is about a girl and how couple should share each and every responsibility to become a perfect family rather than get the choice of work or staying home.. reminds me the movie called Ki & Ka tht how a man can handle woman ego very nicely but woman cant always handle man's ego as nicelyy...after 2 states this book is my second favourite book..

Libro super facil de leer aunque tiene muchos términos indus. Esta muy bien, cuenta una historia muy chula y capta la atención. Muy entretenido

Very clever people from very structured societies but working at top international levels have always found it difficult balancing the requirements of living in two worlds. "One Indian Girl" is Chetan Bhagat's poignant but extremely funny tale of how a brilliant, ambitious and high achieving young woman from traditional middleclass India copes with the pressures of life in the fast lane and family expectations. It's a good yarn, well written, with enough pace to keep you reading until you finish it, quite a bit of suspense and some intriguing plays on Indian customs.Highly recommended.
