Nice headline but simple design faults limit usabiity and can cost £££
It's nicely made and good to hold, connects nicely to the super suit but has a pretty fundamental design flaw in that the cord that you secure to your dive gear is only screwed in, meaning that with a little accidental turbulence it comes unscrewed. Additionally, although it does float with a gopro in the supersuit attached it only just does - meaning that if you add anything else - like a polar switchblade for example - it no longer floats - it just sinks very slowly...A lesson painfully learned - it's extremely frustrating to see your gopro sink very slowly away from you and this could be prevented by something as simple as a better connection or additional fastenings. They would spoil the streamlined look of the handle but would be so useful. Yes, I could have jerry-rigged an additional fastening at the point where the pole connects to the super suit but that's hindsight for you.Overall a slightly more thought through design would have saved me hundreds of pounds replacement costs and would make this perfect - such a shame!

Floating somewhere in the ocean
I recently brought this pole about three weeks ago from all the good reviews and it's sophisticated look. When it arrived it's smooth handle and boyish good looks won me over instantly. With my brand new GoPro and super-suit it looked the part and seemed to do the job.Went on holiday a few days later and tested it out in a swimming pool, it just about floated on the surface with the GoPro dangling below. For a moment I thought I was invincible I had visions of taking over from David Attenborough in my wildlife filming campaign. However my career unlike Attenborough was short lived...I took it diving for the first time with the fool proof safety strap firmly on my wrist. I recorded the majority of the dive, getting close to some turtles and thinking to myself even Attenborough would be proud, maybe we would watch the footage together over a romantic dinner. At times I let go of the stick and watched it shimmer next to my wrist whilst I swam along. When doing a safety stop near the surface I let go of the stick to check my watch.I surfaced a few minutes later to discover my trusty strap was still on my wrist, however my stick and GoPro were nowhere to be found.I had a desperate search looking for helpfully coloured blue/ black stick thinking at least it would stand out against the dark navy sea.Turns out not all stories have a happy ending, anyway the moral of my long winded story is, it may be a beautiful thing but don't rely on the strap as it can just unscrew easily whilst diving or in the sea and like me you will just have to live with the memories. If the review below was a few weeks sooner, I would have not brought it, or taken extra precautions.. I would have rubbered up!

Half good!
The idea behind it is great! BUT: the fact that you screw in the hand held but hasn't got me sold. While diving with it, I lost my go pro twice! While underwater the scew came loose! At first I put it down to me not making it tight enough (could happen!) and thankfully the hand held bit floats so I could retrieve my go pro from the rocks. So the second time I used it i screwed it in as tight as possible, and yet it came off. I could blame pressure at depth but I was very shallow... so sadly I blame the product instead. 2* for floating and half of the thing working :)

Really light, while feeling strong and sturdy
I bought this product for an SJ5000x Elite, it fits perfectly! The pole itself is made from carbon fibre and aluminium. It makes it really light, while feeling strong and sturdy. There's no plastic connectors here, the connector is aluminium, making things feel more secure. The pole is quite smooth, but the mat finish means it doesn't get slippy. It comes with an adjustable toggle lanyard that screws into the bottom of the pole. This was the main selling point for me, being able to tighten the lanyard around my wrist while filming underwater. When not in use, the pole can be screwed into a tripod.

Love this. Perfect
I’m really fussy with my GoPro accessories and looked at all waterproof handles.GoPro’s own handle to me looks really boring and dull with its square lines. The Smatree is different ! Beautiful and sleek. Some of the reviews say it’s slippy , they are not correct. This handle is secure and has a great wrist strap which has over 8 runs of the screw left so doesn’t come undone - not really sure why some reviews say this.I love this floaty.Looks beautiful, really light, floats GoPro easily and is very well built.

Spot on for my GoPro 7!!!
I’m a big fan of Smatree. Their products are just great, with excellent build quality. This SmaPole is exactly what I was looking for. It looks great, it’s super lightweight, and it’s very short. I already have an extendable SmaPole (see pics for size comparison) which I find is great for snorkelling etc, but not so good for snowboarding (too long in my opinion). Having done some research on what is best for my GoPro 7 when snowboarding, it’s clear that a short lightweight pole works better. This SmaPole is about the same size as a gimbal, but far lighter and much less hassle. The GoPro 7 stabilisation means you don’t really need a gimbal anymore making this SmaPole the perfect snowboarding companion for my GoPro!!

Impressive video quality on the go
This is amazing for the value, so impressed with the quality of the videos on our 50inch tv. We still use our camera for photos but really easy to take a picture with to. No problems with using this under water.
