Gorge Folding Shovel - Black, 47.5 cm

The Gerber folding shovel is ideal to keep in the car during winter months when travelling in areas prone to snowfall. It'll help get you to dig out around wheels ext out but you may want something bigger to move large amounts of snow as this is very small (about the size of my spread out hand). It packs away nice and compact so takes up little room in my car organiser. It's well made and sturdy and easy to deploy from folded, it can be used as a hammer too.

great little tool, leave it in my van ready for when it snows, does need an angle grinder on the front edge then a file to sharpen it for more ease of digging 9 out 10, every van owner or truck driver should carry one.

I bought this because I wanted something a little like a shovel I had in the military but with recent technology and design. To be honest, it could be better. Whilst it feels quite sturdy initially, I think some of the components will wear relatively quickly when stressed on hard ground. I've knocked only half a star off for this because for my purposes of wild camping, I carry it only for light work and latrine duty so it's not getting hammered digging large holes. If you're looking for a more substantial digging tool then don't go for a folding one....go for a draper short handled spade. The weakness on this shovel is the pivot point and the plastic nut that secures it....not the shovel head. That said, this packs up small (but kinda heavy), so fits easily in the side pocket of my bergen, does a simple job relatively well and with light/medium use is well worth the money I paid. A quick and easy 'mod' to this shovel is to get one side of it sharpened..... then the weight of it becomes an advantage and it can be used as both a shovel and a hatchet.

Bought as a gift, loved it

I bought this shovel to keep in my box of handy knick-knacks for Scout camp. Intended for digging out firepits, de-turfing the ground for open fires, and potentially burying unwanted 'waste' when away from civilization. It isn't the lightest shovel, and it never really matched my idea of what Gerber quality actually was. It was irrevocably damaged during one of the first camps by a couple of small Scouts in digging ashes out of an old fire-pit, so proved to me that it really wasn't tough enough.

Solid and good design

Seems fake or knock off version. Bag toggle broke instantly and shovel itself very tacky and looks and feels completely off from original I had.

Nachdem ich schon mehrere Klappspaten im Einsatz hatte, ist dieses der erste Spaten, der schon beim Auspacken einen soliden Eindruck macht. Zusammengeklappt passt er in jeden Rucksack oder ins Staufach im Auto. Die Verarbeitung ist gut. Erste Tests haben bisher die gute Qualität bestetigt. Mal schauen wie er sich im rauhen Betrieb bewährt.

Al final, me decanté por la marca GERBER y acerté. Dejé a un lado todas las demás palas plegables de entre 10 y 20 euros. Lo verdaderamente auténtico es observarla de cerca al abrir el paquete de llegada. Pala resistente por todas partes, de pintura negra satinada sin brillos y dotada de su funda de tela. La abrazadera que sirve para asegurar de una posición a otra parece de gran calidad y metálica, a diferencia de otras que son de plástico y se rompen con el uso. No me arrepiento en absoluto de la compra, e incluso la recomiendo.

This folding shovel is a must-have product for every hunter/police/emergency/tactical/survival people out there! This folding shovel live in the trunk of my Jeep Wrangler and I carry it everytime I go hunting/hiking. It is REALLY light and mechanics of the folding blade are awesome. Really good quality from Gerber, as always. The hammer checkered plate works flawlessly and doesn't bend at all, even on 3-inches steel nails. I would have liked a little longer arm on this shovel for the winter season, but getting on my knees to take off the snow/ice from my wheels won't be too hard to do! When folded, it is REALLY SMALL... Lenght is around 9 inches and package comes with a quality little bag to transport the shovel. It fits in every backpack or take almost no space in the trunk! A must have for everyone who lives in a place where winter means you have inches of snow every year! :) Also, I want to say that Amazon is awesome for SHIPPING... They ship fast and it's always in great shape when it arrive! Seriously, way better than any Ebay or anything like this! Will definately buy other items on Amazon!

Très bon produit compact et facile à utiliser même si l'écrou qu'il faut visser et dévisser pour tenir la pelle fermer ou ouverte est un peu dure. Reste à vérifier sa durabilité sur le long terme car je ne l'ai utilisé que de manière occasionnelle.

Llego en tiempo y forma. No he podido probarla pero se nota resistente. Eso sí, es algo pesada como para llevarla en la mochila para hacer senderismo de más de 1 día. Aún así me pareció buen producto y me lo quedaré.
