Sophie The Giraffe Gift Boxed Version from Vulli

I bought my first "Sophie" when my (now teenage) son was a baby. I was looking for a non-plastic teething toy and stumbled upon a blog that mentioned (the then hard to source) Sophie the Giraffe. I managed to track one down that would deliver to the UK.My son adored her. She was the perfect size for wee hands (and mouths!) and he loved making her squeak. Best of all, being rubber I knew she was safe. I still have her and she is still looking good, despite her few early years of being well chewed.She is now my go-to baby present and I have bought many to gift over the years. All have been well received and have become much loved.

There's a lot of hype over Sophie the Giraffe and you see them in a lot of magazines etc but I also know a lot of people who are shocked at the price and wouldnt buy a teether toy at that price. However not only is Sophie a lovely gentle toy for your little one to chew on, she's also a lovely play toy for when they are passed that stage! We still have my daughters Sophie and she is still played with now even thought she is 3! When she was little she did love to chew on her, the lumps and bumps must feel very different to a more traditional teether which are normal smooth with no pointy parts. I think the ears and feet were a favourite. Yes it is expensive but it is a few toys in one, a squeaky distraction toy, something to talk about (Giraffes, how many spots, what they eat etc), a chew toy and later on a Giraffe to play with other toys. These also make a lovely gift to new mums as well.

After hearing so many rave reviews about it, and not having much luck when offering my 4 month old son teething rings etc (either too big for his mouth or easily dropped), I decided to give this a go.He absolutely loves it! The legs are perfect for chewing on while having something long and thin enough for him to grasp. It's soft enough so that it doesn't hurt him at all. The squeak is a bit random, it basically makes it a dog toy! but for some reason if I squeak it enthusiastically at my son when he's a bit grizzly, he perks up straight away and reaches for it!No idea what makes it so attractive to babies but it's a god-send for teething!!

I bought this for my daughter's first Christmas in 2012. She was four months old at the time. She absolutely loved it!I think the great thing about this toy is how diverse it is; it can adapt to your growing child's needs. At first my daughter was just amazed at this toy that looked different to her others. Then my daughter learned to squeak Sophie and she fell in love with her toy all over again. When my daughter hit the teething stage, she loved nothing more than chewing on Sophie's feet to relieve her pain.Sadly, my daughter would want to take Sophie everywhere, and we lost it on a trip somewhere. I'm not sure if it was a reflection of the product, or my daughter was too attached to her original, but the (exact) Sophie replacement didn't interest her.The one problem I had with the product was it didn't withstand the everyday gum soothing that a toddler needs. My daughter barely used it at the beginning of her teething stage, but the paint/ink on Sophie's feet quickly disappeared. A hole also appeared in it's foot from my daughter's eager gumming!Overall, I would still heartily recommend this toy to parents who have a child that's about to start teething. It's a fun toy that's practical, small enough to carry around, and can harmonize with your child's learning and teething needs as they grow.

Like many other people the price always put me off buying this product. I had been looking at these teethers for a while due to most of the fantastic reviews. Now my son has the product I can see why they are so popular! It is certainly better than any other teether I have come across and my son is absolutley over the moon with it. He grins everytime he hears the squeaker and is forever gnawing her ears or legs. I was a bit weary over reading a couple of reviews about the paint fading and the rubber coming away etc but so far I have not had any problems. Sophie would also make a great gift for any little ones so I now know exactly what to buy which is a bonus! It's also brilliant that she comes with a little history behind her with her birthday and a simple story which makes this product totally unique! It's brilliant to learn that even though she originally went into production in 1961 she is the same today and is still going strong. I always read the product reviews on amazon before I make a purchase so I hope this helps some of you who are undecided! The price does also tend to decrease quite often and then go back up, I purchased her for £8.33 so keep your eyes peeled!

We purchased this for our daughter. She had worked her way through lots of teethers without much success. The gel and water ones that we froze seemed to be dropped quickly and she didn't seem to take like them much. My SIL was using "Sophie" for my nephew and my daughter used to love taking it off him and got very upset when we took it away so we HAD to get one!I read the bad reviews on Amazon so when it arrived I scrubbed it and pulled it around to try and get bits off to check its safety. My daughter loves playing with it but most of all so does our dog! Now, this will prove how safe the squeaker is....if our toy poodle can't get the squeak out of it then neither can our daughter and it gets scrubbed clean at least twice a day now too! She doesn't quite understand that it's for teething but does love having it to play with as a toy and squeaks it with her hands rather than biting (unlike the dog).I would recommend this product, not only as a teether but also as a toy. It is lightweight and easy for little hands to hold.

Die Giraffe ist wunderschön und hilft unserem Enkel bestimmt gut z.B beim Zahnen und vor allem beim Spielen.

Loving Sophie the Giraffe always.There was a worry with the logistics but the seller handled it professionally and fairly.Recommended.

Deliziosa. La mia bambina l'ha amata per un buon numero di mesi, a partire circa dai 2-3. Per un certo periodo è stato di gran lunga l'oggetto preferito! Ora che ne ha 9 invece le interessano molto di più altri giocattoli.Per me è stato amore a prima vista, perché la giraffa è molto carina, è completamente naturale e manda un profumo buonissimo e molto delicato.Dopo nove mesi le macchie sul corpo sono sbiadite, quasi scomparse, ma mi sembra normale visto che i colori sono alimentari e Sophie è stata lavata e tenuta in bocca tantissime volte!

Cuando recibí la jirafa lo primero que pensé fue .... parece un juguete para un perro!! tanto dinero para esto? Pero ahora mismo estoy super contenta con mi compra, tengo un bebé de 4 meses y es sin duda su juguete favorito, se pasa largos ratos jugando, apretando para que haga ruido y mordiendo la jirafa, al ser ligero y tener las patas largas resulta muy fácil para poder agarrar, no huele a plástic y es totalmente seguro ... todo favorable y precio razonable en relación a la calidad . Sin duda volvería a comprarlo!
