SimplexHealth Water pH Test Strips 5.5-9.0 Range & Two Pad Universal for Acid Alkaline Water Testing (100 Strips) - Better Than Litmus Paper

During the long summer draught I needed rain water for my carnivorous plants but my tap water is PH 8 and the plants need PH 6.5. With the help of these strips and a little experimentation I found I could dose the tap water with cider vinegar to lower the PH. If you need to do this do not use malt vinegar as this is not sufficiently acidic.These strips are a great product, easy to use and consistent. Allow at least 30 seconds after wetting before comparing with the colour chart.

Easy to test tap water

I found these really helpful after my cheap PH pen started to produce errors after a year of use. The narrower spectrum provides a little more accuracy at the levels indicated.The strips are calibrated for around 6.5 ph which is really helpful for me, as if I dip into my solution and nothing changes I am at 6.5. If it starts to darken and go slightly green I am drifting toward 7 ph. If the top strip starts to turn a deeper orange/pink colour then I am drifting under 6 ph.All in all a decent replacement for an electrical pen in some circumstances. No calibration needed and great for measuring run off.

Used for testing PH in our paddling pool in the Summer so I could add more bicarbonate of soda if need be and avoid that green yucky sludge you get if the PH is too acidic. Super.

I bought this as I disliked the idea of having to calibrate an electric tester so I went for quick and simple strips. Just wet them and hold the colour tab up to the colour chart and the matching colours represents the ph level, have used it quite a bit so far with no issues!
