STANLEY Moisture Meter with Two Detection Pins and LCD Screen Includes 4 x AAA Batteries 0-77-030

The item works great and is simple to use and sturdy. When you push the sensor in to a surface and wait 2 seconds it takes a reading and then you can pull it away and it retains the reading on the screen for a few more seconds so you can read the value without having direct access to the screen while using it. In addition I found very few meters provide a calibration test like this one does. Our old meter the same model failed its calibration test after I believe 10 or more years of use and I would never have known if I had bought a meter without that feature. This is a good buy.

I bought this to check moisture content of a conservatory decking that I cut up because it was neglected. The Stanley meter is easy to use and gives repeatable results. The included calibration check in the top cover is a good feature. I also like the fact that it uses 4 AAA batteries which last longer and are cheaper to replace than button batteries.

I don't expect too much from a moisture meter at this price. I opted for this over a Bosch one at double the price because it's extremely simple, everything's on one screen, the calibration is putting the pins in two sets of holes on top of the cap for the pins. No fiddly modes or equations. The downside are you can only tell the moisture reading +/-2 %. The battery compartment is a pain. It uses tiny pz1 screw to hold the back panel of the battery compartment in which will get lost at some point. And I'm unsure if you can replace the prongs on the unit. The supplied batteries are also alkaline so I'm replacing those immediately and for a unit where you really don't won't to take the batteries in and out which, with battery items I don't use everyday I preferto do. Alkaline batteries are just a potential mess waiting to happen

I used this to track down a slow water leak located under a tiled kitchen floor. The damp was rising up the walls and by moving the tester closer to the source the reading became higher. It’s important to read the instructions before use and to understand that the tester shows two readings, one for testing the dampness of wood and the other for building materials such as plaster. Easy to use and in my case proved it worked well in locating the source of the leak. Highly recommended for both quality and value.

I bought this to help assess damp walls during a recent house purchase - it came in extremely useful and saved me a lot of money in the long run!! Very easy to use and very easy to read. The only thing I don’t like is the plastic packing and cheap looking storage pouch. The meter comes packaged in a completely sealed plastic box that must be cut into with scissors to access. My least favourite type of packaging. Disposable batteries included but you can buy a more expensive product with USB charging features so do shop around. This is easy to operate and easy on and off. Instruction manual is quite lengthy but includes many languages so don’t be put off.

Great device,extremely simple to use and very useful for gauging and monitoring the damp issues in my property. It would just be improved if it had a light as I had to use a seperate torch in darker areas in order to read the meter.

It works well and confirmed that there was a high level of moisture in the ceiling where there was black mould and now we can see that it is no longer there. However the display isn’t very bright and doesn’t continue for very long so you have to be careful.

Really good device. However it doesn’t hold its read which makes it difficult to take a reading high up or at an angle. It also does not have a lighted display screen which also makes it difficult to read. But still a good device for what it is.
