Expensive but fed up with previous cheaper Screwfix fitting that stayed on all day despite adjustment to sensors. This unit was easy to fit and extremely easy to set up. Really impressed this the auto sensor operation - works very well and worth the extra££

Highly effective motion sensing. Senses motion very quickly. My last one was poor and switched on during day light, so had to be replaced. This is very easy fitted. Was not the cheapest one around, but you do get what you pay for, this one oozes quality. Well pleased. Highly Recommended.

I had a PIR that was fitted by a professional electrician some years ago. It went on the blink so that the exterior lights were always on. Thankfully LED, but even so... I read lots of reviews complaining about the bad design on many of the small PIR units. Typically you are tying to wire these up in a tight space at the top of a ladder or other awkward position. I paid the money to get this one as reviews say that it is a breeze to fit. I could not agree more - the wiring and set up were super-easy and it worked first go. There is enough room to get at least one power-in lead and two power-out leads, which is what I did. I saw complaints about the final top screw. I understand the complaint but I made sure that I did not drop the little devil as it was pretty small - probably worth putting a dab of Vaseline on your screwdriver to hold it in place as you fit it - otherwise you'll never see it again. Other than that, a totally recommendable purchase. IP ratings on electrical goods can be a bit hit and miss in my experience. This looks like it is likely to take some weather without getting full of water and spiders!

This is switching a flat CFL pancake type luminaire on the wall of my house. Two cheap PIRs have failed on it now in 4 years, so I thought this might be the time to spend some money on a quality item and see if it lasts longer. £30 rather than £8, so I'm hoping it'll do at least 6 or 7 years otherwise I'd be better off buying cheap....... Anyway, it's nicely made and has a precision feel that the cheap ones didn't. Easy to fit and connect the wiring; it screws to the wall on a carrier - a kind of sub-frame - that allows the unit to be aimed left and right (the PIR itself is up / down only). Just finished the install so I need to set up the lux and timer settings later today as darkness falls but so far, so good. The installation embuggerment referred to is that the grubscrew which holds the front cover in place to enclose the wiring is on the top of the unit, not (as more usually) on the bottom. A pain, as the unit I was replacing had no extra cable to pull through and so I ended up with the top surface about 3 ins / 8 cm below the soffit so couldn't get a screwdriver in. In the end settled for using a pair of pliers to wind the screw in, leaving enough proud to grip should I need to take it apart again. Whether that's prejudiced the IP54 rating I couldn't say, but the unit is in a very sheltered location so should be OK.

I installed the sensor 4m from the entrance to my garage and 2m high. The 60w LED is 8m from the sensor. Be aware not to plan to install your cable’s for “back entry “ as you will not be able to install the sensor flush to the wall. I used 2.5mm cable designed for outside use. It was difficult to get the cables through the bottom knock outs but achievable. If using junction boxes I would suggest ones with a high IP rating. Wiska are very good.

Brilliant bit of kit!

Having installed as per instructions the PIR worked correctly. After 6 weeks the unit has now switched the lights on permanently. I have tried switching supply on & off, checked wiring etc and still the same. I am not happy and attemptin to contact supplier

This is my second purchase of a Steinel product. The previous photocell powered a light which came on at dusk & stayed on till sunrise. It’s been functioning since 2016yr, in that time it’s been faultless. This PIR Steinel was easy to fit and easy to set up - for range, sensitivity and time on. It’s a good design in that the wire entry positions are favourable for wiring ease. Instructions are clear and all fittings one needs are included. I would buy their products again without hesitation.

J'ai utilisé ce détecteur, comme plusieurs autres dans ma maison, dans la salle de bain pour allumage automatique de la lumière, en remplacement d'un autre modèle de la même marque qui ne fonctionnait plus bien (au bout de + de 10 ans tout de même). Le premier produit livré avait un défaut mais Amazon l'a remplacé sans problème rapidement (c'est la 1ère fois que je retourne un produit) . Globalement je ne me plains pas de Steinel, leur produits sont faciles à poser, esthétiques et fiables. Pour ce qui concerne le modèle IS 130-2 la pose s'est faite facilement ainsi que le câblage, on peut l'orienter de haut en bas et régler la sensibilité d'allumage et le temps (mais les boutons sont vraiment petits) . Le seul petit défaut que je pourrais trouver c'est la vis de verrouillage du capot qui est située sur le dessus. Cela limite la possibilité de fixation sous un plafond car si on le plaque trop haut on ne peut plus atteindre la vis avec un tournevis. J'ai du laisser environ 6 cm et utiliser un tournevis coudé à douille. La vis aurait été mieux placée en dessous (comme sur d'autres modèles Steinel) ou en façade. Ceci étant c'est un excellent produit que je recommande car je pense qu'il durera longtemps comme les autres.
