A natural product that works
I began using JFM but have sensitive skin. I had slight burn after a few uses so decided to stop immediately. I looked at a few natural items and saw this brand available on Amazon. I initially used the dark brown. It didn’t work well. I was getting orange colour on my grey hairs and only lasting a couple of days. I was about to give up but thought I would try the black dye. This has worked great with no irritation. With this product, it took some practice and trial and error to get things the way I wanted. I have a relatively short beard (number 6 on my Remington beard trimmer) and I colour it every 5 days. It’s not as straight forward as chemical dyes but I have found it works just as well. The first thing to mention is that this does take longer. If you need the base then it can take up to an hour whereas the JFM only stayed on for 2 minutes. I find it best to use this around doing something else as opposed to just sitting around waiting to wash it off. The second thing to mention is that this does not work like chemical dyes. This will only colour what it is physically in contact with. Therefore, you have to make sure you cannot see any hair sticking out of the application. It has to be thick with the beard fully underneath the mixture. I find that my beard darkens immediately but continues to get darker over the next 8 hours. I don’t personally get any of the green or purple mentioned. This colour is a dark black and darker than my natural beard. There is no guarantee that the dye will work. You may need to use the base. The dye has not worked for me without the base. I have done some trial and error and I can mix my base in with the black and use it in one application. This is not how they recommend it is used but works for me and I half the time. It works better if you use the base and colour separately but I’m happy with the result and I prefer to have a few grey hairs here and there as it looks more natural. If I use separately then I can get 100% black beard. One of the great things about this compared to chemical products is that this does not colour your skin. I have no irritation at all. I previously had dry skin under my beard but using this product has meant I no longer have dry skin. It’s also worth noting that this product requires a lot less time on the beard than similar natural products which say they need to be on for anywhere between 4 hours to overnight. All in all very happy with this and I like that it is natural.

Good as idea, fail in practice
I was desperate for this to work and with my hopes up with the reviews I have been trying for three weeks now. It did not give me an allergic reaction and I love the just mix with water idea but the positives end there. After the really long twenty minutes this dries into something close to concrete. The mess it creates is monumental. Hair that doesn't lay totally flat on the skin isn't coloured. It's impossible to cover hair on the chin. After all those efforts... the hair goes green for two days. Then orange for another two days. Then it goes back to grey. It doesn't look natural it looks stupid. I will also try the dark brown before I go back to irritated skin but normal looking beard. Update: I have been trying the dark brown for a couple of weeks and I am much happier with it, less green and orange and seems to last a few more days.

Very effective!
Excellent! I’ve tried similar before after Just for M! JFM was horrible and burned me every time I used it. Also I suspect JFM and similar chemical dyes are carcinogenic so it was imperative I found a working solution. I had a few options 1) Go grey gracefully 2) Shave the beard off (I’m bald so I wouldn’t look great with that option!) the little bit of looks I did manage to rescue by growing a small neat beard many years ago would be hard to give up. So I consulted Grok and it suggested this Grizzly Mountain Dye. It made promises so I ordered and I used it today (Friday) Absolutely brilliant and I can tell already it works better than the other henna dye I tried. I didn’t bother with the base and to be honest I haven’t a clue what that’s for but it was just another step that I couldn’t be bothered with. I mixed in a small glass bowl a good heap of the powder and put in freshly boiled kettle water after letting it cool slightly first. Have that a good mix until about toothpaste consistency. I painted it on with the included brush and went and watch the snooker on TV for half an hour. This is where the magic happened. Grok told me to rinse with water only no soap no shampoo! A step I didn’t adhere to before. It wasn’t strong enough to remove all so then I got a hot face cloth and light mild soap and washed my face as you do. Then the greeny tinge got less and less. I realised previously I may have been harshly washing out the dye mixture with strong shampoos so it was great to see the green tinge left on the beard. It was pretty green and would be noticeable but I have noticed a few hours later it is starting to oxidise into a brilliant dark brown. I have to say guys, no cancer causing chemicals and a nice dark brown beard. It should oxidise further and the green tinge should fade but all in all I am absolutely delighted and I’m switching to this completely as a once a week ritual. That’s my tips as a born again henna / indigo user! I’ve picked up a few pointers so just remember don’t harshly washing with shampoo after the 30 mins, gently remove with warm water leaning over the bath and then finish with a hot face cloth and mild soap if required. Better to do it in the evening, it’s not an instant thing where you can do this and go straight to work as you will have the green tinge. I give 5 stars for this and I can now have a nice colour rather than grey without any health concerns. That really puts my mind at rest so thank you!

It's really, really good. I like the fact that it can leave some of the thicker hair a lighter colour, so that you end up with a very natural blend, (and as no one's beard is really uniform, its a very realistic look). Best bit is that its very non-toxic, and does not stain your skin, (For God's sake, don't use just-for-men, that stuff has a moderately high probability of burning your face). (BTW, the skin stain of those other chemical dyes should lift with baby oil or moisturizer on a cotton wool ball). But, like most things, you do *need* to read the instructions. The few who complain here maybe didnt give it overnight to work, or didn't follow the process. If it doesnt seem to do much the first time or two, use the oxidiser, (the 2nd smaller packet) which kind of prepares the beard, *then* use the standard stuff. You'll get the results you want! Tips: I found I had to use the oxidising agent pack once to start off the process, (slightly different mix of the dye in a smaller pack, works really well), and leave the dye (either the oxerdiser or the main dye) in for 30 mins. (They recomend 15-30). Doing that, I got really good results. It can fade after a few days and the colour then looks like a really natural blend of light and dark. Be aware that the dye makes your beard get darker over the first 12 hours, (or overnight), so it's often best to do it before you go to bed or a friday afternoon or similar. Dont be put off if you've followed the instructions and it doesnt seem very different the first few times. You do need to give it a few (6?) hours to work at least, and you'll then likely be pleased and surprised! All of this is covered in the instructions, follow them and it should work really well! Do not mix with an alcohol/ethanol based after shave. That will change the tint of the dye. Moisturizer will generally remove colour from any dyed hair. Keep it away from the edge of your beard, or hair. Edit: I recently started leaving it in 45 mins, (while I checked my email), and generally a little longer gives you a darker shade, (that lasts a few more days (I get close to 1-2 weeks before they gray grows out underneath). The more you use it, the better it gets, and the more effective at colouring your facial hair.

Definitely recommend. I’ve tried a few other dyes before and always had allergic reactions, but this one worked great with no issues at all. I used the dark brown shade and it looks natural. Just make sure to read the instruction (it should be paste like when you apply), it takes a few hours before you see the colour change.
