A beast of a hedge cutter
I’ve recently had to replace my old 18v cordless Bosch hedge cutter after four years of service. To be fair to it our garden was perhaps larger than it was designed for as we have about 60m of 2m high hedges of that require regular maintenance. In the end the motor burned out on it so it was time for an upgrade. Although I love the convenience of cordless I had to concede that they don’t quite have the grunt to deal with our hedges, and I can’t bear the grief of petrol powered garden tools any more. If you’re a commercial gardener then yes, it’s a no brainer, but for the general gardener they’re just too much of a faff.So I went looking for a sturdy electric hedge cutter that would be up for the job. The majority of my garden and power tools are Bosch and I’ve never had call to doubt their quality. I’d had this Bosch cutter in my Amazon watchlist for sometime and fortunately it came up on a Lightening deal so I wasted no more time and purchased it. And it’s so much bigger compared to the cordless. Side by side it dwarfed the cordless machine. The blade is long and the cutting width is excellent. It utterly ploughs though the hedges and chomps through the thicker stems that would stop the cordless. It’s heavier than the cordless cutter, certainly, however that’s offset by the speed at which it gets the job done. The cable is a good length, but I would recommend getting a safety plug should you get a bit carefree with the blade. Overall I’m very pleased with this chunky monkey of a hedge cutter.

Powerful trimmer for large hedges
I'm reviewing the AHS70-34 hedge trimmer. This replaces a trimmer I had from Bosch that didn't have the power to cut through small branches. This however has no such issues. The trimmerIt has a 70 cm blade and 34mm teeth with a powerful 700 watt motor. The cable is 10 meters long.I've used it to trim a large hedge and I did it in less time and effort than my previous hedge trimmer. I've also trimmed a small tree with ease. The great thing about this trimmer is it has a sawing action so even if the blade teeth are smaller than the branch, a little sawing action will cut through it. With the blade being quite long the reach of the trimmer also helps with large hedges. I've got a tall hedge in my garden and I could cut the top of it without a ladder. The circular handle has 3 large red buttons positioned around it, which helps angle the blade to cut at various angles. It weighs only 3.9kg but this weight is evenly distributed.I use a premium oil spray on the blades to keep them in perfect condition. This can be purchased for around £5 from a diy shop.Overall really impressed with this purchase. It comes in a large box with the blade sticking out which is protected with a plastic cover.

Much cheaper than hiring someone and almost as easy [except for the cuttings!]
I can't recommend this enough. I have beech hedge roughly 120 feet long and 12 feet wide and I realised I needed to cut it back [by 2-3 feet on the outside and at least 5 foot off the top]. I was dreading it. Then, after checking the reviews for this Bosch I decided to buy this. It is wonderful; as someone says "it is like cutting through butter". I can't believe how easy it has been. I only use the loppers for the very thick branches and to tidy any rough cuts made [which are actually very few]. As a 58yr old women I do find it a little heavy when reaching up to the top of the hedge, so I take my time; but I actually look forward to cutting the hedge now - it's a real sense of achievement. It used to take me a full day to trim this hedge but I estimate that if I was just trimming the hedge it would take me less than 2 hours. The only thing slowing me down now is the mountain of cuttings - next stop an incinerator bin!

Like a knife through warm butter ...
Make hedge trimming so much easier than it was previously. The tooth gap really cuts through branches as the specification promised, the power makes light work of conifers, privet, holly and other assorted trees that have benefitted from being trimmed since I bought this. The length of the blade at 70cm just adds to the benefits of using this tool.It is not amazingly light at just under 4kg, but that is balanced by not needing to expend the same amount of time doing the trimming which was needed previously, as this just cuts through things like a knife through warm butter. Quality tool, and was even better when Amazon had this at £116. Definitely worthy of recommendation.

Bosch hedgecutter
The good points of this Hedge trimmer is it cuts well and deeper into the hedge than my older one meaning i can keep the hedge under control better...It does get heavey once you have been using it a while but cutting down rather than up makes it easier...The safety lever and strart trigger are too big or too far apart dont know which but gripping the handle doesn't land your hand in the right place to comfortably squeeze the lever or trigger meaning if your fingers relax a bit it stops working so you have to consciously squeeze the lever and trigger making it a pain especially as your arms are getting tired but i have been able to reduce the height of the hedge which is what i wanted...

Excellent but has a weak spot
Mine arrived last Friday, I took it out of the box today and heard a rattle, the blade stop (the only purpose of which seems to be to stop the cutting blade getting close to anything solid) was still in the box, it looks like it was snapped in delivery. I used it anyway and the performance is brilliant, with a 70mm blade you can reach a couple of metres from one point so it's very quick to get a lot done. The cutting is outstanding, it was flying through branches nearly an inch thick (luckily I wanted it to!). I decided to keep it (Amazon gave a partial refund for the damage) as the broken piece a) seems unimportant and b) seems a weak spot and likely to break again. Otherwise very impressed.Update: second outing and I cut through the cable, even though I was trying to be careful and keep it safe. I've ordered one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/9790834977/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so I don't have to rewrite the machine every time it happens, no idea why Bosch don't use something similar as part of the product.
