Chica and Jo Magic Wizard's Wand Making Kit - DIY Craft kit to Make Harry Potter Wands

These were amazing!! We used them for our daughter's 8th Birthday party. I applied the hot glue the night before the party. We had kids choose a wand and paint it. It was a warm day and the paint dried very quickly. The kids gently rubbed a small bit of wax on the wands. It worked out perfectly! Rave reviews from everyone!! Very fun craft for everyone! I initially bought this kit as a gift but it arrived just wrapped in plastic and not very "gift presentable" so I opted to just use later as a fun activity. I wouldn't recommend using this kit as a party craft as the paint is high quality and took quite some time to dry (even after using a hair dryer). My 11 year old niece rated the craft a 4.5 and it lost a star for me simply because of the packaging. FUN!

My kiddo is a huge Harry Potter fan and super crafty and this was, well, the big gift. The box is just this-a plain, white box with art supplies in is and a small card inside with instructions.I think I wish there was something more special or magical about the outside-or even the inside of the box? Even if it was simply lined with, I don’t know, black tissue paper with silver stars on it VS a plain, unmarked white box with art supplies sort of rolling around inside.I wrote some HP quotes on the outside of the box and lined the inside with tissue. It has everything (remember:except the glue gun!) that you need, it just could use a little....magic.Good value for what is in the box.

This was a GREAT craft activity for a 10 year old Harry Potter birthday party. They did request an adult apply the hot glue (not included, don’t forget to have that ready) If you have a large group that needs glue help, you might consider pre-gluing. They had a blast applying the paint and wax. It was great to see each kid add their own special touch. We did supplement with some additional glitter and gems that we had on hand but even without our extras the kit was great. It might be possible to compile your own items, but I really appreciated the convenience of the compiled set delivered to my door!

I don’t usually write reviews but this kit came in so handy and was a huge hit at my daughter’s Harry Potter party I wanted to take the time to give it 5 stars. The wands did take some time to make but they turned out beautiful. I tried to vary the designs and paint and wax combos and they turned out pretty unique. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of glue- they make cool handles. I made the wands the week before the party and we played a wand sorting game to have the wand choose the wizard. If you were throwing a longer party the wand making could be part of the party if you had a few glue guns on hand but we only had 3 hours.After the wand sorting, we used the wands for a few party games. With a partner and taking turns they would toss glow rings and catch them on the wand trying to catch the most in a minute. We then had charms and owl training- trying to lift small 9” balloons (the owls) into a basket (their cages) on a stool using only the wand- also played for the most in one minute and turned out to be harder than everyone thought.Great, high quality product I would buy again!

As others have observed, these wands were a superb party activity. I’m the days before the party I decorated them with hot glue, which took 10-15 minutes per wand. The kids selected and painted wands as they arrived, so not all the kids were trying to paint at once. We returned to apply the sparkly wax after a couple activities.I would recommend this activity for kids 7-8 and up, or younger ones with strong fine motor skills. Painting and applying the wax was a little above the developmental stage for some of the 5-6 year old boys at our party. Nonetheless, they were delighted to get to take home such a lovely and personalized party favor.

Lived up to the positive reviews - a group of 8 seven-year-olds loved making wands together. Followed others' advice and did the hot glue in advance and used modge podge to help seal it. We made little wand holders out of old cereal boxes to hold up the wands during decorating. I did buy an extra container of gold metallic wax separately, which was helpful for having so many kids trying to decorate at once, given that the metallic wax included comes in quite small containers...

My kids loved using this kit and there was enough for their friends to make wands too. The only thing one needs to make cool looking wands, other than this kit, is a hot glue gun. The wands, themselves, are very sturdy and durable. The paints and pastes are very good and make the wands look authentic (If there were ever real magic wands, they would look like these...hahaha).
