Auralum® Energy Saving 50W IP65 LED Waterproof Floodlight High Power White(6000K) Outdoor Spotlight Black [Energy Class A+]

After reading all the negative reviews I was dubious about the quality of this floodlamp especially the earth connection but I decided it was worth a punt.I'm pleased to say that having just received and tested it (25/11/16) I think it's absolutely excellent value for money.The body is die cast aluminium rather than plastic and although the mounting bracket looks a little flimsy, once it's installed it wont be going anywhere so not a worry.This lamp is replacing a 60W high pressure sodium lamp and has a very similar range of illumination although not as 'soft' as the sodium lamp.I took the back off the lamp to look inside and pleased to find a nice silicone gasket, the earth wire securely attached under a screw and the led power supply cleanly attached to the plate with silicone adhesive.I noticed in the small instruction sheet that this floodlamp is suitable for chandeliers, ceiling fans and table lamps. Really??I've attached a photo with the back removed for those with inquisitive minds like me :)

So far so good. I wired this up to a outside LED light that we have in the back garden and used an IP66 rocker switch that allows for a switched live when the outside lights are on. Very well made and constructed and as previous reviewers have said it is very well made and not flimsy like some LED halogens i have bought in the past. Ive enclosed a photo of garden when the light is on. Garden is approx 100ft long.I guess it really depends on how bright you need the garden and what the light is for.. In my case, i needed the garden to be visible to move the sprinkler etc around and it seems to be ok.. nice purchase.

Apart from the wire and mount the rest seems robust and well made.

This lasted all of 8 months, considering this was from Spring through to Autumn (so, yes, just the light summer nights), I don't think it was up to the job at all.The unit started flickering, and now, just 3 weeks later, it flashes like the flash on a camera.I checked the order to see when it could be returned, and was shocked to find it was just a 1 month return window, now its going in the bin.Do not buy!

Easy to fit, very bright and led so doesn't cost much to use.
