Reliable Matte Finish – No Shine, No Fuss
Vallejo Matt Acrylic Varnish is my go-to for sealing miniatures when I want a dead-flat finish. It knocks out any unwanted shine from paints or washes and leaves models with a smooth, consistent matte surface — no chalkiness, no streaks.I’ve used it with both a brush and airbrush (thinned slightly for airbrushing), and it behaves really well either way. Dries fast, doesn't yellow over time, and doesn’t mess with the underlying paint job as long as everything's fully dry.Perfect for fantasy and tabletop minis where you want that realistic, non-reflective look — think gritty cloaks, battle-worn armour, or anything weathered.Pro tip: apply in light coats and let each layer cure properly for best results.Highly recommended for painters who want a professional, clean finish without any gloss or satin shine sneaking through.

Excellent product
This stuff is like magic. The easiest varnish I have ever used. I ordered another right away. It will go a long way too as the coverage is great. It really is matt! Finally, my search is over. I use it for craft so it is quite versatile. Love it and I hope they never stop producing it!

Needs thinning for airbrushing, and patchy matt coverage
I've never sprayed varnish before, generally applying Humbrol 'cote' varnishes using a brush. However, as I've started airbrushing more, I thought I'd try this on the recommendation of various online users. My first experience was problematic. The bottle implies that it can be applied neat, so that's what I did, but it's really pretty thick and it completely clogged my airbrush, requiring a full strip down to clear it.When I tried again, thinning quite heavily with water, it sprayed better and gave a pretty good matt coat on a surface which had previously been glossed for the application of decals However, on a subsequent use and applying to an AFV with a brush, I've been left with a more satin finish which is far from what I wanted. So far, I'm not entirely happy with the varnish, but it could be down to user error if I'm just not mixing thoroughly enough before application.Edit: after a few more uses, I've found it is indeed down to pilot error. It needs a really good shake every time you use it, and then it gives a really flat matt finish. Added another star (still not 5 stars because it does need thinning a lot to work in an airbrush).

Great matte varnish!
I've been using this as a final coat on my Warhammer models. So far, it seems like it is protecting the paintjob well, I have not noticed any damage after transporting the models.I like the matte effect that I get after using the varnish.I've also been finding it useful for sealing my bases after I have applied terrain effects to them. Huge bottle, will probably last me a decade 😁

Great product - remember to shake well :)
Great product, I have used for a couple of years now and always happy with the results. I decided to gobfor the 500ml bottle due to the economy it offers compared to the smaller bottles thatbI have used.Only issue was that the first time I used it, I did not take in to account that due to the size the bottle needs to be shaken for longer. The first models I used it on were shiny and had a wax like texture. A quick internet search highlighted it was down to my not shaking the product long enough. Once I did this it was fine and a quick second coat resolved the issue caused by my misgake dirst time round. Great product.

Apply sparingly and avoid pooling - do that and this works great
I found when I slapped this on it appeared pale blue and I was worried it would affect the look of my models I was trying to protect - my amateur paint job on some goblins I spent way to much time on to make look half way decent was at risk! What I found was if you make sure to prevent pooling and try to slap it on and brush around to make a thin coat it dries completely clear and matt as if you never added it in the first place. I'm hoping this means it's still on there invisibly protecting! All in all, assuming it's on there still, it's easy to use and you get likely a lifetimes supply in a bottle (unless you play guard and have a zillion tanks). 5/5*
