Plants all watered on a bright sunny day!
I love to grow plants but am absolutely useless at remembering to water them regularly, no matter how hard I try! I've been playing with different options for a while and finally came across this system. Absolutely in love with this system. The fact that you don't need a power socket and you don't need a mains pressure tap really helps make this system a real winner for my balcony garden! I used freshly boiled water to help soften the tube ends which makes it easier to insert the drippers and t-pieces and ensures a tight seal once they've cooled and shrunk again. I have 2 drippers each on 3 medium balcony boxes and 4 drippers at the top of a felt vertical herb garden (so 10 in total so far). I will be getting the dripper extension kit as I have 2 hanging baskets, a climbing plant and some sunflowers I'd like to have automatically watered! I accidentally put the non-return-valve (the blue 'dripper') on the inlet rather than the outlet because I wasn't paying attention so the system didn't work initially. Luckily I figured it out and when I put it on the outlet it worked perfectly so I'm really happy. I had a moment's panic after work as I hadn't watered the plants in the morning before leaving and had forgotten about the system. When I got back the system was busy dropping away and everything was well watered without supervision. Absolutely incredible and precisely what I was after! I got a pre-opened, return package with damaged box at cheaper cost which helped to afford the system as it's very expensive. The system seems to work absolutely fine and nothing is missing so definitely worth it!

Noisy but effective
Good product does what it says and easy to set up. Main issue is that for something so small it's really noisy.

Genuinely works and sustainable
Pretty easy to set up and works like a charm once you have the dripper positions properly adjusted. My tomatoes water themselves and the amount of water adapts to changes in the weather. All I have to do is pinch out, feed and harvest. Now I've had it a couple of years I'm mainly impressed by the after service - this product can actually be maintained. If you have a problem, it can be easily opened up and has modules that can clipped in and out to replace. It has a service line where people who understand their product actually help you to fix your problem, even sending out spare parts – genuinely a breath of fresh air in a world where most products end up in landfill when the most minor thing goes wrong.

Great idea but execution not as good as it might be.
Compalints first: Under the protective film solar panel was scratched! Pretty low build quality. Solar panel is too tiny to be a really effective battery charger even for 3 AA rechargables. Instructions woeful. Doesn't appear to be standard micro irrigation hose or fittings or drippers. Tapered stakes just want to pop out of the compost! The water sensor is a mess of thin wires. The good stuff! Despite the instructions warning that batteries need to be fitted and that they aren't included they were included and fitted in my unit! Hoorah!! It does actually work. Especially on a sunny day when it's most needed. Relatively easy to put together although curly hard pipe and tapered stakes don't help. Clothes pegs are a big help.

Bought one a year ago and still going strong, bought a second and loving the improvements
Am pleased to say most of my comments are not true for the 2015 model. The connections are much easier to make. The unit primes itself easily, and best of all it no longer pumps at night, it has an additional light sensor, so if your a light sleeper you can still have one of these outside and open bedroom window. The newer model even seems a little quiter. The water sensor is an additional bonus, although the bleeping to tell you the water butt is empty could be a little annoying away from the allotment, so I may see if this can be disconnected. Last years review...... Very pleased with this item, it's a little fiddy to get it to draw water at first and to get the tubing into the device to seal but once you have and are patient it reliably waters every 2-3 hours or more for just a few minutes or longer depending on the setting. I'm on my second year now and it's worked really well, and has avoided the stress of leaving mains water turned on whilst on holiday. The worst that could happen is you run your water butt dry! Definately worth it for the piece of mind and keeping those special plants watered whilst on holiday. For me it's an extra bonus as I keep bonsai trees which really don't like tap water too much so I can keep them watered all the time. Just make sure you pack it all away well before the first frosts. Oh and also it will continue to run after dark and although not excessively noisy you wouldn't really want this right outside your bedroom window!

Doesn’t work
The pump is very feeble, only supplying water to the first two pots. It is very sensitive to the levels of the pots. It simply doesn’t work.

Fantastic bit of kit
This has been fantastic over the recent heatwave, with no power needed to operate it other than daylight. Previously I would have had to visit my greenhouse twice a day to water, but now I go to check every so often and this irrigation system is handling it. The step by step instructions to set it up were relatively straightforward. It does make a noise when the pump is working, but it is not very loud or longlasting. Once set up you can easily change settings so it will deliver more or less water. I have it set up to water along a long and short side of an 8'x6' greenhouse. If you needed to cover a longer length you might need an extension kit. Highly recommended.

Worked well
Lasted a week and watered well, bit noisy when running, tubing and plastic drips supplied were enough for my little greenhouse.
