Q: My fireplace opening is 18” w x 22” l would this fit?

My fireplace is 18" wide but only 12" deep so am very doubtful this would be suitable. Having said that, they are a very good idea and I am sure you could find one that is bigger.

Q: Is this effective if you have a gas fire flue running up your chimney? I need it to fit round the flue to block the draft coming down the chimney.

I have five chimneys and I only use one. These are a great idea to stop drafts and soot being blown down the chimney and into the grate.

Q: The hole I need to seal is 16” x 11”. Which size balloon do I need please?
