They definitely get a little bit hard as time goes on, but the flavors are great & they soften up when you eat them. These are a great substitution for when you don’t want a piece of gum. I also love the smell of them.

There's an alternate reality where Hi-CHEW's don't exist. That place is a dark and lonely place. We are lucky enough to have this beacon of chewy goodness in our reality, and for that, we have to send praises to whatever deity we worship or be grateful to natural selection of chewy candies for our atheist folks. And it is that chewyness that we must pontificate on for but a brief moment. At first bite, one might worry that there will be no chew. But wait my fellow human. Patience. For the chew will come. Give it but a moment for the salivatious mouth environ to interact with the hi-chew and all shall be revealed as the well-formed exterior gives way to a more sumptuous elastic relationship with your dental friends. But wait! There's more. There's a little known secret to the hi-chew experience, and if you will lend me your ears (or at least your eyes), I will let you in on this. It's all in the wrapper experience. Now you could just tear open the foil-like wrapper to reveal the joy that awaits you. But again my friend, patience. There is a different way. If you hold the wrapper to your mouth and apply pressure to the far regions of the exterior you can pop the hi-chew into your mouth. If done carefully, and with a certain amount of skill, you will not only move the candy from its coat into the first position for experiencing this moment, but you will also get some of the hi-chew "air." This pocket of air is flavored with a hint of the internal chew and adds a nuanced profile to the initial masticatory experience. It should not be missed. Fair warning though, do not put too much pressure, or the velocity of the extricated candy may prove too much for your human mouth.
