Tabletalk Conversation Cards

These cards act as prompts to conversation, putting questions which are serious in content, some humorous, and others requiring an inventive, creative response. They can be used between two people only - or within a larger group. There are no right or wrong answers and, if participants engage in the process with a spirit of openness and respect for each other, there is the possibility of developing listening and talking skills in an enjoyable way. In a family setting, the cards enable even the youngest child to venture an opinion: it can be surprising to hear the perspectives of young and old on a question such as, 'What kinds of machines would you like to invent or redesign?', or, 'If you could change your surname to reflect your job, looks or ancestors, to what would you change it?'. For ambitious parents, this makes fun out of a learning a skill which can become all too serious in later life.This particular set of cards, designed for family settings, is portable and usefully packaged to resemble a pack of playing cards. However, the unnecessary cartoon illustrations on the cards are irritatingly and crudely drawn, and serve little purpose. My feedback to the company would be: a) keep the shiny, good quality, of the playing card format, b) keep the text with the excellent prompts and explanations, but upgrade the cards to a more minimalist format with simple texts, borders and colours.The concept of these cards has many possibilities for further development.

some of the cards are a bit boring or have strange stories, but they are generally beautiful shiny cards with fun conversation topics.

useful game for breaking the ice where not every person present knows each other and where it is important for everyone
