Bird Houses for Outside 1-1/2” Entrance Hole Cedar Birdhouses with Metal Guard Outdoor Bluebird Wren Swallow Finch Asssembly Required

Bought these to replace a couple of tired old bluebird nest boxes that had seen better days. These are surprisingly good quality for the price; nice smooth wood, quality latch, counter sunk screw holes, attached metal predator guards, and every pre-drilled screw hole lined up perfectly on both boxes which made assembly easy. I’m a 64 year old gal who put these boxes together in about 30 mins., only had to have my hubby hand tighten a few of the screws. If you’re comfortable with power tools you can undoubtedly shave off assembly time. Be sure to check the screws on the predator guards because a couple of them were a little loose. I did use my own ratchet type hand screwdriver rather than the stubby one that came with the kits. I like that there are pre-drilled holes in the back piece to make it easier to mount the boxes on whatever posts you use. If I have any criticism at all about these boxes, it is that the vent area between the top piece and the front piece is much narrower than other boxes we’ve used over the years. I plan to paint the outside of these boxes to extend the life of them. I see they’ve also gone up in price a bit since I placed my order on April 23; perhaps tariff related. All in all, very pleased with this purchase!

Update 1st 😊: this is SO precious....I have 1 full nest (no eggs yet) and 1 nest being built inside my 2 boxes ( pics added)...all of this happend yesterday, so a week after I mounted them. I definitely recommend these...do the wild birds a favor and give them a safe place to lay and rause their babies this Spring ... ❤️ below is Original posted review after receipt of nesting boxes:I have many birds in my area, and been observing them struggling to find a safe nesting area for when it is that time of year. The last 2 years some (obviously) first time mommy bird built a nest under my deck and she was quite stressed a few times I couldn't avoid going on my deck. So, to eliminate that, and provide the cuties with more safety and a roof of their own, I decided on this nesting box. I chose this one bc of the reviews, so, MANY thanks to all whom take 5 minutes to review items. So here are the details:- Assembly is SUPER EASY- tool is also provided 🤗 (took under 5 min to assemble)- Instructions are SUPER EASY to follow -nothing comolicated...no handyman needed 🤭- Looks AWESOMEI will place some meal worms on and in it in 2 weeks, so the bluebirds will find them. I bought the twin pack, bc it had better price than single unit. It arrived perfectly packaged, and get this BEST PART...ALL the pre drilled holes line up !! It's a win-win! I am hoping for happy bird families this spring, and hopefully also a round 2 come July. Buy it, you will NOT regret it !P.S.: You see I mounted on fence post, though you should avoid that per brochure, but those posts are closest to small trees and butterfly bushes, for the babies to try flop their wings when it's time to leave the nest, and not fall to the ground I will update if this mounting choice was not a good idea.

Loved the quality of the materials used: cedar, brass screws, pre-drilled set holes, and brass flash covering for the entry hole. FYI there are two sizes of screws: one for general assembly and longer screws for mounting on vertical surfaces. We drilled a hole ourselves for the placement of small dowel for the birds to sit on in front of entrance hole. Comes with a small Philips head screw driver, but you'd be better off using one with a longer handle. Afterwards, we varathaned the exterior to waterproof outer walls and roof.

The design and quality of construction is superb. Assembly was easy, not a single misaligned pilot hole. Beware, the wood had a very distinct odor of being treated with insecticide once removed from shrink wrap. Suggest airing them out for a week in the elements before mounting them in the yard. I presume the wood treatment may be a requirement for importation from China. Wear gloves when assembling if it makes you nervous and wash up afterwards. I don’t mind it as the wood will last longer and probably will keep mites away from nesting birds. Would still buy them again due to the build quality.

Easy to screw into a fence post (1 screw); easy to clean from the front. We put it up at the end of April and 1-2 weeks later (now May 15th) there are already birds nesting in it. We screwed into a 6ft fence post (Elk fence 6' tall) and have 2 120 lb dogs running around; still birds nested (7800 ft elevation). Hooray! Will probably purchase another one for the front of the property.

I bought this set because of the metal material at the entrance, so it can't be pecked bigger by other birds. The 3 larger screws that are included are to be used on the back panel to fasten into whatever you are attaching the house to. The remaining smaller screws all fasten into putting the house together. I went a step further & rubbed boiled linseed oil on them to protect the wood since they will be outside. The photo shows one house protected & the other plain as it came for a comparison. I only treated the outside panels. Will let full dry before hanging up the house. I'm also going to attach a small perch for the birds as they enter the house. When others wrote it has a smell to it, mine did not; THEY ARE SO EASY to put together - people ... the holes line up, it isn't any easier. I'm a woman and put these together in 5 min or less each. Both bird houses came with screws and 1 screwdriver (I used a drill).

The birdhouses are beautiful! One appeared to have a split in the back, but I reached out to the seller and they responded quickly and immediately sent out a replacement. I will definitely be ordering more. I love them as much as the birds do!

This was the most satisfying thing that I have sat down and done for some time. Your kit is perfect! No flaws, just a tiny elbow grease. I child could do it. I then oiled it with vegetable oil and it is shining in my flower garden as I type this. The front clean out is super and very attractive. The Brass plate on top of the wooden mount is classy and practical. Thank you so much and there's another one too!
