Works very well
Basically, does exactly what it says it will do. But if you use it when the temperature drops below zero the crystals themselves will freeze and will need changing.

Seems to work well.
Good Price. Easy to use. Seems to be reducing condensation on bedroom window.

i love these !!!
we have a moderate condensation problem in our house and previously used a dehumidifier - as this doubled our electricity charges we decided to look for a cheaper solution.we now have a couple of these boxes in each room and we are delighted with the results.these are reasonably unobtrusive and are well made, and come with more than enough crystals for each box. they are quite fiddly to fill and empty at first, but after a few goes this get easier.we found through trial an error that it is best to half fill each box with crystals and place in your problem area - be it a window area or a damp corner, such a wardrobe or behind a settee (we had damp and mould on the back of our settee, which was up against a cold outside wall - put the trap behind the settee and it is now dry and mould free ! )these will not stop really bad condensation on windows in deep winter but they will stop your curtains going mouldy.after placing the traps you will not see any water or changes for at least a week, but then the crystals will begin to get wet and form a solid lump, soon after water will appear in the bottom of the trap. just leave them to do their thing until there are no crystals in the top - or the bottom of the trap is full of water. then they need emptying and refilling with fresh crystals. these can be bought on amazon but high street shops have them too. we find we need to empty and refill about once a month.its best to leave them in place all year round - not just in winter. because you still get condensation in summer, you just cant see it !overall we would not be without these boxes now - they are a good investment to keep the house mould free - and although you need to buy the crystals, they work out a lot cheaper to use than a dehumidifier, but do the same job.

Purchased better
We have underfloor heating and so for those wardrobes situated over the heating pipes we have had to install these traps or similar to catch the moisture.I had needed a further trap and so purchased one of these at a price which I thought was a little steep for what it is, however, caveat emptor: I needed it and there did not seem a readily available alternative stocked by Amazon. It arrived very quickly, was well packaged and was everything as advertised. Out of the box and ready for installation, I found that the container which holds the calcium chloride did not hold the contents of the bag and therefore, much of it was spilt and wasted: not so with the equivalent items I had previously purchased from Robert Dyas.I do feel that three stars is a fair grading for this item, they all work and there is no magic involved in the process, but in this item's case, I do think that it is quite expensive for what it is and the sachet of Calcium Chloride does not fit into container. Still should work fine though.

A convenient shape, but not so good at taking in water
As the name implies, the Kontrol Streamline Moisture Trap is narrower than other similar products I have seen. However, it isn't small overall, so whilst it is true it may well suit your own narrow window ledge or similar, it is well worth checking the dimensions carefully first as you may find it too bulky for some locations such as smaller windows. It is a little messier to use than many other dehumidifiers as rather than using sealed sachets or tablets, this one uses loose flakes which you have to transfer from a package to the tray. The tray the flakes rest in has low slides, so there is plenty of scope for spillage and mess if you are not careful.Overall, their absorption ability is only mediocre in my experience. As others have pointed out, the flakes absorb moisture first so you shouldn’t be too worried if not much water appears in the try to begin with. However, even allowing for that, I found the device less good at taking in humidity than others, though its narrow size makes it convenient enough for me to continue using it.

Give it time.
After assembling this product i left it on my windowsill below a badly condensated window. After 2 weeks all that had happened was the crystals had got damp and formed a hard clump, there was not a single drop of moisture in the drip tray below.I was very disappointed. I opened it up to have a look at the crystals and i dryed them with paper towel, then i pushed the hard clump out of the base a little just to try and loosen it a bit.I then put it back in position and it is now collection a quarter of a pint of water in the tray each week. That might not seem a lot, but i am actually quite impressed considering how little it cost. My window is still really condensated so it didn't really help me with the task i bought it for, but it is at least doing something. It's probably ok for very minor moisture problems, maybe in a small cupboard, but i can't see 1 of these ever being enough to help condensation on windows.

Instructions and format not very clear/efficient but functioning excellent!
Delivery was slow - arrived 4 days later than suggested window. However, was well packaged and arrived OK.Packaging instructions could have been clearer as I had to go online to find out exactly where to put crystals - wasn't sure about terms used: "lid", "tray", "trap", "unit". Also - there is a lot of large holes in middle of upper part of device, spelling out the word "REFILL", through which the crystals drop into the lower drip tray when trying to set up - this seems to be unhelpful to the general functioning of the unit. However, once everything in place, devices started to collect water within a week to ten days of being set up - very efficient! In fact, am going to buy two more!
