RPI4b compatible
I bought a cheaper brand one to mount an SSD to the rpi4b and it simply wouldn't work with the raspberry pi4b. So ending up purchasing this one, is more expensive but it works straight away. Solid lead and does the job perfectly.

Feedback
Effective and efficient kit that was easy to use. Delivered on time to help change my hard drive to solid state drive. Struggled a little bit with downloading the data migration tool (Web page was unclear) .overall veey satisfied with the product

It treats an HDD as a DVD and says "no media insert a disk"
I attached a Western Digital HDD to get the data from it and then format it, in file explorer it showed as a usb and when double clicked said "Please insert disk" ? In disk management it showed as drive 'E' but said no media. Sorry I've since found I ordered the wrong cable for HDD and Startech were brilliant in refunding my purchase price. The one I chose was a 5volt supply for a laptop 2.5 hdd. Terry

Excellent cable everyone needs one
This is an excellent cable. Working in IT I often need to recover data from drives and this is excellent and does the job. No bulky power cables etc as it’s bus powered so just great! Speeds are good when using usb 3 and an SSD on the end and it’s lightening speeds!! Well worth it for any IT person or home user who needs data recovery or to move from a mechanical drive to a solid state disk

works well with pi4b
I ended up getting this one as it was reported to work well with a pi4b and SSD. After setting it up it does indeed run well and fast. After a bit of googling and futzing it even supports trim (which is needed to keep the SSD fast). PI4b boots off it, it is very fast (much faster than running off sdcard) and hopefully will continue to run well.

Easy To Use - Plus TRIM + S.M.A.R.T For Relevant Drives
Not much to say, here, it does what it says on the tin, and unlike some others (KabelDirekt "Pro Series" - B01G3V5ZH2) has the full ability to be the main cable in an operating system running from a USB drive. This is because (and I can confirm) it has the ability to operate fully using TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. functionality on a connected drive. TRIM is something which is good for both security (to a small degree) and somewhat prolonging the lifespan of the drive in operating systems which support it. As it ensures that the right space is available when needed for storage, and keeps the drive's 'blocks' in order, accordingly, within that. That isn't a perfect description, I know, but then, I'm not perfect. ;-) S.M.A.R.T. is potentially *much* more important, as it allows you to ably ensure the health of a connected drive. Without it I wouldn't have had a clue that my main OS drive was dying, recently!

It works
I've bought much cheaper adapters than this one and they work fine. However, I want to run a Raspberry Pi 4 from SSD and the cheaper ones are not fine. This one is on the list of tested & approved adapters and I can confirm that this is the one that you want if that is what you are trying to do. Note to the seller: You may want to put that in your description because there are plenty of us looking for these and plenty of people who don't know that the correct adapter is required.

TRIM works with Linux but only with a bit of fiddling
This is great and good value for the price. Worth noting that this version has no connector for an external power supply so it is only for SSDs and 2.5" HDDs. This does support passing TRIM/UNMAP through to SSDs; I ran Startech's firmware update tool before testing but it's quite possible the unit already shipped with the up-to-date firmware (the tool doesn't give any info about what it's done or what the previous version was.) Getting TRIM to actually work on Linux though was a bit of a fiddle though - even using kernel 5.3.x I had to manually set 'provisioning_mode' to 'unmap' in /sys (you can set it with udev as well - googling for those terms should find the appropriate info.) This is likely to be a problem with Linux not the device though - Windows was quite happy to issue TRIMs without any fiddling or extra drivers.

A perfect cable that allowed me to clone my old drive to a new SSD drive. It worked perfectly and it looks solid. The delivery was quite quick as well.

I wanted to make a bootable SSD for Raspbian since SD cards are prone to corruption. With a compatible SSD (Kingston A400 ) and this cable it's possible to use the Raspberry as a reliable little PC. It booted the SSD I had cloned from an SD card on the first try and is lightning fast, highly recommended.
