Great Introduction to the 90's Superman!
Basically (Superman - The Last Son Of Krypton) are the first 3 episodes of the show called Superman : The Animated Series. This DVD consists the first 3 episodes of the series called :1. The Last Son Of Krypton (1)2. The Last Son Of Krypton (2)3. The Last Son Of Krypton (3)All of these episodes are combined together to make you feel like it's a feature film. It's a great introduction to the series, I really enjoyed it. Most of the 90's cartoons are one of the best cartoons I have ever had the joy of watching, this one is no exception. This DVD also includes 2 bonus features :Superman : family, friends & foeswhich is basically clips from the show showing Superman friends / foes while music is playing in the background (it lasts about 5 minutes, nothing special here).Portrait of a Hero : How to draw Superman escape from Planet KryptonHere is the interview of the animator who shows us his skills of drawing Superman while commenting on what he likes and finds difficult about drawing superman (also lasts about 5 minutes, nothing special here either).Overall if you haven't watched the Superman - The Animated Series, this would be a great introduction of the series and it's only about 58 mins long.

Good, clean-cut, entertaining adventure
A well-designed cartoon, with vivid colors and well-defined good/bad characters. Perfectly appropriate for schoolchildren, but not preschoolers. The DVD seems as if 4 episodes (the last a double one) have been stitched together to form a movie.1. "last son of crypton" shows Superman's parents trying to save Krypton from destruction and, when all that fails, their only son. Good images of Krypton and parents, but the insensitive central computer may be an unsettling concept.2. Superman, a teenager, struggles to accept his powers. His adopted parents tell him the truth and give him a box with a recorded message from his real parents.3 + 4 Superman, an adult, has come into his own. He finds work as a reporter and makes his appearance as superman, rescuing the passengers of a jumbo jet, which he lands in Central Park. He makes an enemy of Lex Luthor when he battles the latter's battle-droid, foiling his attempt to sell it (illegally) to some military regime.Except for the first part, which may be a bit unsettling for kids, the rest is very entertaining, full of spectacular and suspensful scenes. Provided there's parental guidance and advice, even the first part could be enjoyed by preschoolers, but still, I'd recommend this for children above 6.

standard superman
this tells the classic tale of supermans origins. the animation isn't as good as the JLA movies and I thought the krypton bit was too drawn out and too little time spent on clark kent as a young man in kanas and lois lane - clark kent interaction. the lex in this ( and in the JLA) is the best lex ever strong, intelligent and very evil and much more a match for superman than in most of the soppy hollywood movies. lots of action. great for kids

Superman Vol.1 - Last Son Of Krypton [DVD] [1996]
Bought this for my little boy but I think he's maybe a bit young for it at the moment. However actually found myself watching it and really enjoyed it which since I'm not normally a big superheros fan means it must be pretty good.

Want the Superman story without the violence? Then this is for you.
This is a great DVD. My 4 year old son has become a tad fixated on superheroes due to playground play. I wanted him to know the characters and stories but without the violence (although some peril is bound to feature as, like many Disney characters, his parents die!). This tells the superman story from alien world to being found by the Kents all the way to the first adventure as Superman. I fun watch for me too. A good buy.

Strong and colourful
This is an excellent retelling of the beginning of the Superman story.First third - Superman is a baby and Krypton is heading for disaster.Second - his youth in Kansas.Third - action packed antics in the city and the introduction of Lex Luther as the enemy.Particularly good about this DVD is the animation and the vivid, strong colours used. It is a pleasure to watch.

Superman DVD
Bought this for our grandson, but I shot myself in the foot because when he watches it, he is so engrossed he won't come to the phone to talk to granma. He loves it so much he now has the superman outfit to wear whilst the DVD is on!No reports from the family that there is anything inappropriate or too scary for a 4 year old.
