Our previous bread-box didn't do the job as it had a sliding door and my wife got freightened whence she opened it a 1 mouse jumped out along with 2 babies who must have been born in a closed bread-box!! We've never had this problem before! We're checking to see if there are any small openings which may have somehow allowed their entry. Terminix and Orkin does not exterminate mice. They only provide sticky traps for when mice are attracted to what a customer may add to the trap, like a piece of sliced cheese. Then the mouse gets STUCK on the trap and, sadly to say, they are then caught up in the trap so one can place a bag holding the wiggling mouse and trap which can then be thrown into the garbage can in the garage wherein the mouse suffocated to death! I personally would prefer the draping bar trap which after the mouse checks out the bait, it quickly snaps closed killing the mouse. A better choice than suffocation. Much more humane!! This new bread-box is mouse proof and will protect contents best! Seems like a perfect solution! Thanks

This is absolutely beautiful with the bamboo lid. The lid doubles as a board to cut your bread on too! This is larger than most bread boxes which is a great thing if your homemade loaves are larger like mine. I received a follow up email from the seller thanking me for my purchase and pointing out the one year warranty to register, although all this information was included in the perfect packaging. HIGHLY recommend this product! Other smaller sizes won't work for me since I use a larger size batard banneton for my sourdough.

This didn't work well for me as a "bread box". I've never used a bread box before and will probably never try again. Maybe I don't eat the bread fast enough. Within a few days, both store-bought bread and homemade sourdough loaves developed mold, making them inedible (they did look pretty cool, though...).Nevertheless, I recommend this beautifully designed and manufactured "xxxxx box".I repurposed it as a fruit ripening chamber. Stick a few iffy-feeling peaches (or some other fruit that ripens after being picked) in there along with a single good ethylene producing fruit like an apple, cover with the lid, and the fruit will ripen nicely within a few days.

With the breadbox having both a place to store my bread, and a cutting board is very convenient and it looks great! Highly recommended.
