Made from compressed felt in one handle. Sealer is inserted into the narrow part of the flue pipe directly above the chimney. It can be easily installed and removed multiple times. There are extension rods for the handle so that the handle end is always visible in the fireplace. However, both the handle and the felt wool are fireproof. So if a fire is accidentally ignited, there will be smoke but the handle and wool will not start to burn. See Chimney Sheep website for more information.

Wish we had known about this before!
Initially ordered a chimney sheep from Amazon but the handle was faulty and snapped off before the sheep was even fitted. Returned it to Amazon without any hassle.Ordered another chimney sheep direct from the manufacturer with the idea that they could just send replacement handle if we had the same issue. The sheep arrived and was fitted without any problem. The handle still doesn't seem the strongest but it didn't break this time.The reason for this review is because the sheep really does work. It doesn't completely eliminate wind noise, but has transformed our room from a room that was unbearable in windy weather to one that is comfortable enough.It is also fair to say that we have noticed a difference in the temperature of the room too and the draughts that we always complained about seem to have disappeared. The room is more inviting and there are no sooty invasions, hailstones or rain splashes from the chimney to worry about.Having been searching for something to eliminate the problems concerned with an open chimney when no fire is lit the chimney sheep was a great find. It does live up to expectations and I can fully recommend this product. Take the time to get a bit sooty whilst fitting it and enjoy the benefits of a warmer and quieter house.(Since the successful fitting of the chimney sheep we haven't felt the need to light the fire for extra warmth, which is a bit of a shame as a real fire is very cosy!)The only negative for me is the quality of the handle.

the 15 inch was more better. Arrived on time
I bought the 12 inch version and realised even though this did the job, the 15 inch was more better. Arrived on time, well packaged and now resides in the chimney preventing any draft or heat loss. Thank you.

Great for Edwardian fireplaces in our home especially in winter ...
I brought this to cover up chimney breasts for arrival of two kittens, keeps the draft out and also keeps kittens out. Fits very snug no issues at all. Great for Edwardian fireplaces in our home especially in winter months.

Fantastic
Great product. Used to block old unused fireplace so air does come through and heat does not escape. This product is cheap and and works so much better then i ever thought it would.

Cuts down a lot of the draught but still get ...
Cuts down a lot of the draught but still get some wind noise (we have a cowl on the top of the chimney).
