Vetoquinol Ipakitine Powder 180 g Tin

Ipakitine was suggested by vet to help cat with CKD, and proved remarkably effective in reducing creatinine levels. Vet was very surprised at the degree of improvement in blood test results: in 3 months creatinine dropped from high 500s to ±300, and was sustained until the end. I am sure it extended our cat's life by many months, possibly even more than a year. Most important though was the improvement to her quality of life, because it enabled her to come off the 'renal diet ' she clearly hated, and enjoy real food again; we kept her off junk food (like whiskers or Felix), but she was able to continue eating real food (like Thrive and Blink), without the protein making her kidneys worse. As a result, she was happy and gained back more than half the weight she'd lost. When she did go, it wasn't from kidney disease. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - BUT DO DISCUSS WITH VET FIRST

My cat was diagnosed with early stage renal failure about 2 years ago and she has not got any worse since I have started using this product. My other cat is older - 12 - and he has ipakitine too and his kidneys are good for his age based on recent bloods. Highly recommend as they don’t like the renal food.

I haven't opened this pack yet, but vet's pack of same stuff has improved cat's health. Is putting on weight.

Despite being advised not to use this item for a prolonged period with our cat, we have been using it with her food for almost 6 years now. Special renal food is the ideal product to feed cats to reduce the impact of their condition and prolong their life. Unfortunately our 16 year old cat is extremely fussy and despite following the principle that "she will eat it if she gets hungry enough" she didn't, despite trying a whole host of expensive products - it is very important that cats who have renal failure maintain their weight. We have found one that she will tolerate, however, she does not consume it in sufficient quantities and therefore we have to supplement it with normal high quality cat food and that is where the Ipakitine comes in. We feed her twice a day with high quality cat food and ipakitine and she continues to thrive. For us the balance was achieved through determining whether we wanted her quality of life to be impacted upon by literally starving her to death or achieving a compromise - she is enjoying a long life. This product has served us well for almost 6 years and is just another tool in our armoury to ensure that the most expensive to maintain pet we have ever owned keeps on surviving to the amazement of our vet!

My vet told me about ipakitine after diagnosing my elderly cat with kidney failure. She was in for an operation on a cyst and it came up on her blood tests. I was offered the option to give her renal food, however the vet said that ipakitine has been successful in slowing the kidney disease down. It is odourless and tasteless so Polo had it sprinkled on her wet food and she never faltered eating it. It was the perfect solution. She was taking it for about 11 months, until one day she started having seizures (NOTHING to do with the ipakitine). She was 18 and had a suspected brain tumour. Unfortunately she passed away in July 2018, but when they were treating her for the seizures her bloods showed that the kidney failure had not got any worse from the last time she was tested almost 12 months ago. So I reckon this was down to giving her the ipakitine. I would definitely recommend this product.

I use this as a supplement on my cats food very easy to use she gets on alright with it.

When our 14 yr old border terrier Muffin's breath started to smell we thought it was tooth decay, but the vet recognised the distinctive smell was kidney disease. He went from a dog who would eat anything he could get his teeth round to being a total fusspot. We tried all the recommended chronic kidney dog food, wet and dry, without success and the vet told us about ipakitine. Now we go 50:50 special food mixed with what we know he will eat and measured scoops of ipakitine. His weight is now steady, his breath doesn't smell and he's been on ipakitine for 12 months and counting. We thoroughly recommend this wonderful tasteless and odourless life-preserver.

Prescripto por mi Veterinaria, excelente suplemento renal para tener el fósforo de tu animal a raya. Siempre controlando con analíticas, claro. No tiene aroma lo cual mi minino Totó, ni se entera de que se lo administro. Viene con una cuchara dosificadora. Buen tamaño y excelente precio. Donde resido, no llega este tamaño y el que venden (solo el de 60 grs) cuesta 5€ menos que este formato. Literal.
