The Ultimate Do It Yourself Ebike Guide: Learn How To Build Your Own Electric Bicycle

Perfect.
I am going to give this five stars but It is not without its problems. There are quite a few typos. And that gives it a slightly cheap feel. There is also a bit of repetition, which seems a little redundant. As best I can tell there is no real information on the PAS system that stops the motor from running if your not peddling. He seems to just say ' don't like them, but will talk about them later and then didn't. I am going to do more research to resolve that part of my build. Also, I think it could do with a few tool lists and other shopping lists, for the parts. I am going to re-read it and do my own todo list. That having been said it is nice and short. It gives you a lot of good stuff to consider. It is logically laid out and I don't feel overwhelmed having just finished it.The main reason why I like this is it is like a friend who knows loads about building ebikes sat down and dashed off a word doc, thats a brain dump of everything you need to know to build an ebike. This I am sure has saved me many hours of webtrawiling which is what i was looking for

More Technical Details
This book is probably great for non technical people that want to get into understanding what functions various components of an Ebike perform. However for the more technically inclined it isn't an great deal of help. For instance I had hoped for circuit diagrams and an explanation of how to usd a cheap LCD display from say Ali Express and get it to work on a controller that doesn't have the correct socket to plug it into. ie... comunication protocols etc. Controller PCB's have unused connections that can add features like a speed selector switch or a pulse that can be used to obtain the speed. Pocket oscilloscope are dirt cheap now and a guide to what waveforms can be expected in a controller would be very useful.

Well organized, and with pleanty of info.
After reading it all, decided not to build my own, and invest a few extra ££££ to buy a new one, I am not that good with DIY because I can get tired very soon, no mater how much I could save £££ just by buying and assembling. My house mate did build one, took him a week to do so, and he has one operational by almost £500, so it is possible to build a very strong and quite fast bicycle by following this instructions in just a week time

It seems a bit dated, book had pages missing from the end and scribbles all over the back page.
I learned about the book from watching an excellent video on YouTube by the author and expected to have similar depth in the pages of the book, for example how to create a suitable battery pack using rechargeable lithium cells and how to join these to form a battery pack, how to join them together etc, where to buy or make a suitable battery charger and 100 other things.IMHO In My Humble Opinion the articles on YouTube were 100 times better than the book and they did not cost anything. Would I buy the book again, sorry but the answer is no.

Even I can understand it!
This book is 5 years old. The Information is eternal, but some of the companies and/or some of their products have changed for the better or disappeared altogether. The formulas, and nuts n bolts will be the same, as the Author Micah Toll describes these in a very easy to grasp way. Mostly plain English and easy to follow step by step methods. The photos are pretty clear and assist as planned. A great source and inspiration for E bike builders. HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

Interessante per la parte ciclistica
Molto dettagliato non parla però che marginalmente del sistema di elettrificazione più prestazionale, che è quello con motore in zona pdeivella.

Excellent
Excellent read!I make my living as a mechanic, so I found a lot of the information to be very basic.Very basic in a very good way.Micah does a very good job of explaining the workings of an Ebike. If a person is looking for a resource to figure out Ebikes, Micah explains it very well so that you can understand it.Written so that a layman can understand, lots of examples and diagrams.I currently have a Bionx powered Ebike,Excellent way to start off in the Ebike community but I have found that I want to be more in control. I want more power and more range than offered by the Bionx. So I am in the planning stage of a new Ebike build. There are many resources out there and it is easy to get confused.Micah's book really helped to level the field.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of building an Ebike.

It was too basic. Written for people with no experience
Far too basic . Did not go into pedal assist sensors in any detail in fact the writer was quite dismissive toward them. Nothing covered in depth. Mainly written for people with no technical knowledge at all.
