Required as a replacement for a lamp, this was Amazons recommended choice, and l can see why. It's the right size, easy to install, had the right appearance for the lamp , and has performed without fault. Bound to last for ages so Good value for money.

This is a well made lamp holder and the second one that I have purchased from this supplier. This one, though, had a different arrangement for eathing the switch and it took me a while to figure out how the new system worked (there are no instructions of how to wire the switch correctly). Bearing in mind how important it is for the lamp holder to be earthed, some basic instructions would be sensible.[My last lamp holder had an earth switch in the body of the base of the switch. There is a small screw at the base of this switch and I spent ages trying to feed the earth wire through it. Rereading the information about this switch made me realise that this screw is probably the "internal locking screw". I then found the earth teminal hidden in the central plastic part of the swtich but by then I had cut the wires to fit what I had thought was the earth connection. So I had to cut the wires again. No doubt this is my fault but I had expected the swtich to be similar to previous ones and there was no guidance.]As others have said, I am very pleased to be able to buy a replacement switch and not to have to throw away a much loved bedside lampl

This is designed to fit a 10mm male thread brass nipple fitting (from the same supplier) which is suitable for screwing on to, for example, a wooden lamp base. Unlike the old, damaged bulb holder it replaced this is a thoughtfully designed product. The lower body of the bulb holder can be screwed on to the nipple and locked in place by a screw. The bulb connector block is designed to take the 3 wires (+, - & earth) cut to equal lengths. The connector block has a small metal tab that slots over the upper edge of the lower body to make an earth connection with the metal components. Once wired up, the connector block can be drawn straight into the lower body without twisting the cable.NOTE: Be sure to fully tighten the threaded collar that joins the upper and lower parts of bulb holder together. On first use I found that fitting a light bulb into the holder caused the upper body and the connector block to twist slightly which could potentially damage or dislodge the cable connections.As a safety feature, the connector block incorporates a spring loaded plunger between the two electrical contacts for the bulb. This inhibits the on/off switch which will not operate until a bulb has been fully inserted in place.

The product is good and work well. The big problem I have was that it stated that the switch was a 'safety device”If the advertised description and package instructions said that the switch is ‘LOCKED’ until the bulb is inserted I would have reconnected my table lamp within minutesKen H

The switch was fine but the contacts inside the bulb holder seem to be designed for bulbs with more protuberant contacts. Some newer bulbs seem to have flatter contacts and so the light can flicker.

Good quality but returned as it did suit my requirements

Safety feature keeps out inquisitive little fingers.
