Though the lid was dented the base was not and it made a wonderful loaf of bread I'm very happy about this purchase

Baking Store Loaves is now Easy
Hobby baker here. I’m making artisan bread loaves and they are round, traditionally. I wanted to change up and make square loaves so I saw this ‘Pullman’ style bread mold and it was less expensive than a true ‘Pullman’ pan. I am satisfied with the results.

Works perfectly
Yeah it's a cheap knock off of a Pullman but it does exactly the same ,can't fault it really !Proofs in the picture !

Poorly painted, not non-stick
I bought two different Pullman pans at the same time. I really love the other one. The second time I used this one, when I popped the loaf out I found a thin layer of rust all over the inside of the pan. There is no evidence of any "non-stick" coating, and the paint layer isn't sufficient to prevent rust. It's not a huge problem. Just always remove your bread immediately, and always keep the pan oiled in storage. I use olive oil.Don't be alarmed about the lack of non-stick coating. A Pullman pan shouldn't need any if you wipe it with oil or butter immediately before baking; that oil acts as a "mold release" the same way it does with eggs in the frying pan.Upshot: It's still an OK pan. Just keep it oiled. It's not my NICE Pullman pan, but it still makes good bread... and any bread made in any Pullman pan is a glorious thing. 8) square slices, no hard crust anywhere.Hint: I use frozen bread dough from WalMart, two 1lb lumps in a long Pullman pan. They cost nearly nothing, and it's exactly perfect for sandwiches.

Peeling
I intended to buy a stainless steel pan but this turned out to be coated. I ended up tossing it after 10ish uses due to rusting and peeling. The black coating was getting in my bread which was horrifying to me. I tried to use parchment paper, but it didn't help. I thought about scraping all the coating off, but decided it wasn't worth the effort. It's a nice pan for making a rectangle loaf, but don't buy this or any other coated one. Get stainless!
