It depends how you cook it
I'm Russian and I was in search of buckwheat that is organic. There seem to be no options for Russian-produced kasha so I went with this. The first few times when I cooked it, it turned into mush. It was terrible, I threw it away. But after some research, I understood the difference: from what I read it's the preparation technology in the two countries. The Russian version is steamed and then roasted, American is just roasted. So, instead of putting it in cold water to cook, use hot, and pour the dry grain in, don't need to wash, it's already cleaned. The outcome is perfect fluffy kasha.

Tastes Burnt
I have bought and cooked buckwheat groats many times, but not this brand.A five-pound bag of buckwheat was purchased. Once on the stove, I went away for five minutes. It cooked extremely quickly, absorbed far more water than expected, and tasted burnt. There are no cooking instructions on the package and no indication that the buckwheat has been toasted or pre-cooked.It should take about 15 minutes for buckwheat groats to cook. I have no idea what this company did in processing these groats, but it was disgusting. I have no intention of buying this product from this company again. The item is non-returnable which leaves me with a huge bag of really expensive trash.

Revised: Horrible texture
Revised review: the first time I made this it turned into goo. It was truly awful. I searched for other ways to cook it and landed on a recipe that worked. Bring 2 cups water to a boil. Add 1 cup buckwheat. Turn heat way down, cover, and simmer for about 8 to 10 minutes. You get individual groats and not a pile of paste.I still don’t like the flavor. It’s just too earthy. I’m accustomed to the groats from Anthony’s or similar. Milder taste. So 4 stars. It’s a good product for the money if this is how you like your buckwheat. It’s not the right one for me.

It's not buckwheat groats, it's Kasha
This buckwheat is very dirty and does not keep its shape. So it's not buckwheat groats, it's Kasha. And people who are looking for buckwheat groats to cook it in the usual way (1 cup of groats and 2 cups of water), should avoid this product.
