Excellent for beginners
This book was recommended to me by a professional music teacher. I am an absolute beginner and found it very clearly written, with simple exercises that give you the confidence to progress to actually playing basic tunes at a very early stage.

Excellent For The Adult Beginner
As someone who, rather late in life, wanted to learn to play piano, I had tried two or three other books which although good enough, once I got this book on the recommendation of my piano teacher, I've not looked back and used it exclusively since. It takes you through the very basics of piano playing, supported by excellent diagrams and well known [to me at least], 60's and 70's tunes, each just a little trickier than the previous. The CD that comes with it is an extra useful touch to give you some idea of the rhythm of every tune, providing you have a CD player close to your piano/keyboard so that you can stop/start it without leaving the keys. I highly recommend this book to adult beginners, so much so that I have already bought Book 2.

Basic learning, good for beginners.
The book would be perfect for complete beginners to music, as it takes you through the music learning process slowly and step by step. For me, I already know all of the music theory from playing numerous other instruments for many years so was a little frustrating at times as I already know how to read music, however I was patient because I am relatively new to piano and still must learn things that are piano-specific! It looks to be a really good course for learning piano, with 5 books total (only the first 3 have CD versions though). I look forward to completing more books in the series.

VERY GOOD
There was no choice for me: it was recommended by my piano teacher and I had to buy it. That said, it has proved entirely satisfactory and I'm happy.

Great starter kit for a first time learner of any age
The paper keyboard overlay is a godsend. I can't read music, so this helped enormously. The book was easy to follow, non threatening and in logical stages. I surprised myself with being able to get through this quite easily and I'm a first time player in my mid forties. I did like consolidating my learning by going back over old lessons and realising that I had improved, because I found stuff easier second time around. Give it a go!

Passed at the Procedure Admission at The Royal College of Music in London
It is book 1, but it shows the correct posture, the fingers, with the numbers to work with in a perfomance, how to understand a written musical language with exercises to starting write in musical language as well. The tones, very well illustrated. It works with some music already what helps to encourage the student.

Very Impressed.
I recently acquired a keyboard and decided to learn ho to play it. I remember from years ago a book for guitarists of the same brand that I had used to get me started on guitar... With this piano book I was not disappointed..I am now playing tunes on the keyboard in a relatively short time. If like me you want to learn..easily and in a short period of time to keep your interest going..this is the book.

Not Quite There
I received this book today and it is okay but not quite there. You will have to use this book in conjunction with a series of lessons on YouTube with a lady called Alison. The 'Official' Learn To Play Piano-Lessons, I think this is what it is called and then just type in the name Alison and that should get you to the right place. It is a series of 10 lessons free of charge and this is the book she uses with these lessons. Without these lessons this book would not be much good. The one thing that has been left out of this book is the note letters on the lines and spaces of the bass clef which is no good when playing the piano with the left hand. In fact, they don't even put the note letters on the lines and spaces of the treble clef either, so that will be difficult for the right hand on the piano as well. Unless you have the bare basic knowledge of these things it is going to be a bit hard going. I recommend that you go and visit Tim on YouTube, LessonsOnTheWeb, look him up under this and you will find him. He is really good for the bare basics of reading music. Then I suggest that you pencil in the line and space notes on the bass and treble clefs on pages 14 and 15 of this book and thus you will always have them there as a handy reference guide. Another person to look up on YouTube is Andrew, also known as Lypur, he is good but he does seem to be a little bit too technical at times, so perhaps it is best to go to Alison and Tim first and then when you have a little more knowledge of the subject, go on to listening to Andrew and see how you go from there. The good thing about these videos on YouTube is that you can see people playing the piano as opposed to just reading about it. You have the best of both worlds on YouTube as you have both the music theory and also you see the practice of that music theory with the people playing the piano themselves. I hope this review has helped you all out there and I wish you all the best on your journey into the world of music!

I've used this book alongside a video tutorial. And I like it. The CD helps with songs I never heard before. The book is easy to read and the lessons are easy to understand.
