Item arrived quickly, well packed. It has adequate instructions and seems to work well, giving consistent readings. I can't vouch for absolute accuracy, but I'm using it to monitor a wall that's drying out after a minor water leak and it's doing what I need it to. The 'hold' facility is very useful and I think it's a great bit of kit and incredible value for money. Mine even came with a 9v battery included.Update August 2018: Since posting this review, I've had a chance to compare the readings with those obtained on my plumber's very expensive 'professional' model costing over £100 and they were very similar. Well recommended.

Bought this to check moisture content of firewood. It's a sturdy piece of kit and the readings it gives are consistent. The accuracy of the %age moisture shown is doubtful, but what I've done is to try it with many different timbers at different moisture contents and learn to interpret its displayed readings. The main thing is that readings are consistent, so if you learn what reading indicates what level of acceptability, the device works very well. It has settings for different species of timber, but these too need to be checked by experiment and their effects learned as most of the species are not to be found in my part of the world! Upshot is that the device is robust, easy to use and reliably consistent. You just have to do a bit of testing to get to know how to intelligently construe what it's telling you. Recommend.

The product looks good but when coming to open the battery cover the tab snapped so hoping it stays shut

Delivered on time and was suitably packaged.The tester requires a 9v battery which is easy to insert with the battery cover holding it securely in position.The 'lid' that protects the pins does its job.As with most of us that use wood to heat our homes we get not only a mix of hard & softwood, but a mix of species as well. This tester can change between densities of wood species with the press of a button with the selected species designation clearly shown. The simple species designation key is printed on the front of the meter, which is handy as there is no need to reference a separate bit of paper.As with all pin type testers giving it a good hard prod into the wood will give the most accurate reading, although be aware that hard woods are just that so don't slip.Battery life seems good, used several times a day for last week or so and still on original battery.Would have been 5* if it came with a storage pouch, I had to dig an old sunglasses pouch out which does the job so no biggy.If you found this review helpfull please use the button below to reflect this.

Das Feuchtmessgerät von Proster hat eine gute Qualität und kategorisiert die verschiedenen Holzsorten in 4 Einheiten (A-D). Nach der Voreinstellung der Holzart erfolgt sie eigentliche Messung durch Kontakt der spitzen Elektroden am Holz bzw. leicht in das Material drücken. Die Messung erfolgt zuverlässig und das Gerät insgesamt entspricht voll meinen Erwartungen. Wir haben ein sehr großes Hof-Grundstück, in welchem viel Holz für den Kamin abfällt. Dieses hat auch nach kürzerer Lagerung bereits etwa 20 % Restfeuchtigkeit und daher haben wir uns das Gerät angeschafft, um zu überprüfen, wann welcher Holzstapel bei etwa 15 % Restfeuchtigkeit angekommen ist.Die Handhabung ist wie oben beschrieben sehr einfach und die Batterie im Kaufumfang enthalten. Wichtig ist bei der Messung des Holzes, dass man das selbige vorne, hinten und in der Mitte misst und dann den Mittelwert bestimmt.Insgesamt eine klare Kaufempfehlung - gerade auch im Hinblick auf das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!
