Yummy indian food. Butter Chicken was a dish originally created in England take-out shops by Indian cooks. This product was made in India. The contents of packet are consistent in quality and flavor. It comes out as a thick paste/chunk that is slightly oily. Don't let the appearance deter you. The packets I received have two years until expiration date. I like this brand above others I've tried. This is a very nice pantry staple that can make delightful dinner in 30 minutes. It is fine just by itself, but I tweak it. How I use it: First, saute chopped large yellow onion in 1 tbsp oil or butter until soft and translucent. Remove onion and set aside. In same pan, cook bite sized chunks of raw chicken over medium high heat and stir until slightly browned. Add packet contents. Add 1 cup milk or buttermilk instead of water to give it more body, and return onions to pan. Some people like to add chopped bell pepper (seeds removed), but I don't. I do add 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut powder if I have it handy, but it's not necessary. Slow simmer until chicken is well cooked and sauce has thickened, about 10-20 minutes depending on chicken piece size and brown level. I may need to add a little more water to add volume and adjust consistency to my liking. At the end of cooking, I turn off heat, then I add a tablespoon or two of buttermilk or yogurt for tang if I have it. Serve over basmati or jasmine rice. Top with toasted slivered almonds or cashews for salty crunch. A side dish of Indian spinach like Palak Paneer or Palak Dal and Naan bread is also nice, but not required. TLDR: yum! Flavor stacks up to most Indian restaurants.

This has been our go to for butter chicken for years. We can no longer find it locally so I’m thankful that we can still get it from Amazon. The heat level can be inconsistent but my kids have been eating it their whole lives.

I've bought this regularly for some years and it's a fast and delicious way to get a really flavorful dinner on the table. We like it best with chicken, but I've used it to great success with mixed veggies. It's about medium spicy and perfect for my non-Asian taster. Unfortunately, my last order was not what I wanted, but the new mild version in a blue box--a great disappointment, with not nearly so much flavor. I know I can always add a dash of cayenne, but, no.

This is easy to use and I like how the ingredients are just spices from India with no added preservatives. There is a bit of a high salt content but I adjust the salt with the other added items to the dish.
