Kenya Coffee Maker 34 fl oz

This is a terrific coffee maker--the right size, the right shape, easy to use, easy to clean, and stylish. We use it every morning, and, with not much fuss, it delivers a great cup of coffee every time. One word of caution: when cleaning it, be gentle with the glass, which is sturdy but certainly not indestructible. Bodum manufacturers a range of other coffee makers, but the Kenya is our favorite--and has been for a long time.

First of all, this is mostly plastic but that is not a bad thing. I've had multiple french presses, including Bodum ones, that the metal frame eventually scratches the glass beaker some even became rusty. I prefer this plastic frame over a metal one. It feels very sturdy and durable, I'm sure it will last a long time.

have had there four cup one for years and love it, but this one is pretty flimsy. once metal parts are now plastic and the lid seems thinner. mine arrived with a broken lid

What a load of nonsense. Look, the description says 8 cups. No. Not in on planet earth anyway. Here a "cup" is 8 Fluid ounces. I get most people with marketing jobs stink at match, but how can you get this wrong? Moving past the standard unit of measurement, lets pretend for a moment they mean "Coffee Cups". But no, I don't know any coffee cups that only accept 4 fluid ounces. Well, maybe my grandaughters playhouse/kitchen set. So look, the labeling on the box and description herein is wrong and misleading. Just know up front you're getting no more than 34 ounces. That's 2-3 real life cups of coffee, or 4 measuring cups.

and the glass seems MUCH sturdier than the waaaay more expensive Chambord one I bought. love this french press. this is my second. the first was damaged in a move, glad I was able to find this one and replace it like for like!

Diesen French-Press-Kaffeebereiter benutze ich nun seit etwa einem Monat, ich bin sehr zufrieden. Zur Größe der Kanne: dieses Modell ist groß genug für gut zwei "Pötte" Kaffe, oder für vier bis sechs kleine Tassen. Für die angeblich möglichen acht Tassen müsste man die Kanne schon bis zum Rand aufgießen, was ich nicht wirklich empfehlen möchte. So wie auf dem Produktbild dargestellt, wären das etwa ca. sechs kleine oder zwei volle, große Tassen. Wer wie ich gerne zum Frühstück mal zwei große Tassen trinkt, ist hier genau richtig. Zum System ist nicht viel zu sagen, es klappt bestens. Die Presseinheit ist einfach auseinandernehmbar und kann dann simpel gereinigt werden, indem man die Teile unter fließendes Wasser hält. Die Kanne wird gereinigt, indem man etwas Wasser auf den Prütt gibt, aufschüttelt, und das dann z.B. in die Toilette spült. Sodann die Kanne wie gewohnt ohne Spülmittel mit heißem Wasser spülen. Optisch finde ich die Kanne sehr hübsch, die Plastikumhüllung gibt dem Glaskörper ein bisschen Schutz, das finde ich praktisch. Für Neulinge dieses Systems: man kann durchaus den preiswerten, fein gemahlenen Kaffee aus dem Supermarkt oder Discounter benutzen, muss dann aber beim Herunterpressen des Siebes vorsichtig sein, um nicht zuviel Druck darunter zu erzeugen, der auf Dauer die Kanne gefährden kann. Nimmt man grob gemahlenen Kaffee, ist das Herunterpressen gar kein Problem, das geht dann ganz ohne Druck. Dass der Geschmack des Kaffees mit dem French Press-System unübertroffen ist, ist ganz gewiss nicht nur meine Meinung. Hier entfaltet der Kaffee sein wirkliches Aroma. Er sieht sogar anders aus als Filterkaffee - etwas bräunlich, mit appetitlichem Schaum, wie aus der Kaffereklame. Man mag vielleicht ein Warmhaltefunktion vermissen, aber bei mir hält der Kaffee gar nicht lange genug, als dass er kalt werden könnte.
