Q: Has anyone owned this longer than a year ? What is the durability of the bag and zippers like? Is it well made?

I've had this bag for about 4/5 years now. Still in great shape. Note: I use it for carrying laptop cables and other travel accessories. I don't use these bags for toiletry items. I would never too. You should use ziplok bags for toiletry items and dispose of them after every trip. It is more hygienic than using the same case over and over.

Q: How waterproof is this bag? If I have a bottle of shampoo explode during transportation, will it get all over my items outside of the bag?

The bag is definitely not waterproof. I put the whole bag in a ziplock bag to avoid a suitcase disaster.

Q: Can it fit in a backpack?

Yes this would fit in a backpack however, if I were backpacking, I would want the kind of case that unfolds with a hanger on one end for hands-free access.
