TROPICA® - Flamboyant (Delonix regia) - 6 SeedsWorth knowing: The Flamboyant is a very typical, summer-green plant of the tropics. It develops elegant, bi-pinnate leaves. These bright-green leaves contrast the shining red inflorescences that are pictured on many stamps of Tropical countries. Within our latitudes, the plant can be well cultivated in a tub.Origin: Madagascar and the Caribbean Islands.Propagation: Seeds can be started indoors any time throughout the year. Soak the hard, somewhat long seeds in water at room temperature for about 12 hours and plant them horizontally 1 cm deep in moist seed starting soil afterwards. With temperatures of 20 to 25°C, the first seeds should germinate in as little as 10 or 14 days.Place / Light: Being a Tropical plant the Flamboyant loves bright to full sunny places.Care: Place the young plants in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. In order to maintain a dense growth the Flamboyant has to be pruned early. Water a lot during the growing period and supply the plant with tub plant fertilizer every 3 weeks from May until October. Choose a wind-protected location if you intend to place the tub outdoors during summer. Within our latitudes, the Flamboyant comes into bloom no sooner than after several years.Winter period: The frost-sensitive plant drops its leaves in winter and doesn‘t sprout again before late spring when placed in a shady position. It feels much more comfortable and loses leaves for only a short time when placed in a bright spot with temperatures of 10 to 20°C.Bonsai Suitability: No
