Honing rods work great
I have owned my set for over 30 years and they still work great. I have bought many sets to give as gifts. This set was for my daughter. These are really good for honing a knife that has been sharpened. I use a wicked edge knife sharpener on all my knives once or twice per year, and then hone them with these rods every week or two as needed.

Great Knife Sharpener
I love this Rod Knife sharpener. I owned one a number of years back. I recently purchased a new one. This works great with little to no effort. Be careful, it will definitely sharpen your knives very quickly. Worth every penny.

Best sharpening product I've ever used.
I've used a ceramic sharpener since the original Crock Sticks some 30 years ago. This is ideal for cooks new to cutlery. No need to match the angle between a sharpening steel and blade, just hold the knife straight up and down and draw it lightly across the ceramic rod from heel to tip like you are trying to shave it. Two passes across the fine rod before every use keeps my $51 Amazon Basics knife set razor sharp. I can hold the Santoku knife from the set between my thumb and index finger and draw it across a fresh tomato and the weight of the blade is enough to give a perfect paper thin slice. This sharpener makes an inexpensive knife set perform like a chef name brand.
