Helped extract a snapped spark plug from an engine!
I managed to over torque a new spark plug in an Audi A6. It broke off leaving the threaded part in the chamber. I was really stressing. I'd seen on YouTube that it was possible to extract, but not everything you see is easily done.As these are kind of square in shape, you may need to find a suitable socket and extension for this to sit in. I was able to fit a size 5 drill bit into a 10mm hex socket.I sprayed some lubricating fluid down the spark plug chamber. I hammered in the drill bit with a few firm hits until I felt it get some purchase into the remaining spark plug threads and reversed it out in a couple of minutes. All of this after calling a mobile mechanic and being told it would need to go to a machine shop and have the cylinder head removed, which is an engine out job on this particular engine!Really happy that this took was able to resolve my issue at a very reasonable price... Great tool.
Great little set of extractors but they don’t come with a spanner to turn them with so you’ll have to improvise.
