Q: Anybody having issues with slipping? I am just wondering why the round shank and not hex or at least no-slip?

I've had them a while now. Drilled both wood and steel with them and they're still sharp. It's never slipped for me, however I think the issue of slipping is more related to the quality of your drill. So if your drill has a solid chuck it will be just fine.

Q: How do these handle stainless steel? Will they old up or am I better off just buying disposable Harbor freight?

Stainless is tough metal, you need carbide or maybe a cobalt. It is expensive to tool, and expensive to buy.

Q: Is this a two step process compared to something like the snappy quick-change 5-pc set which is an all-one process?

Yes. - Different type product, it's 2 steps.1) Drill a hole, then 2) you can come back with this and countersink a spot for the screw head.I've got a similar one, but not Irwin, so I won't comment on quality, but the style seems to work fine. I did notice you can make it "wander" a bit, so if you are trying to line up holes, the other style might be a better choice.
