The Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Mega Set Combo, 50 Dropper Bottles of Non Toxic Acrylic Contrast Paint 18ml for Wargaming, Incl. 1 Paint Palette and 2 Army Painter Brushes

As advertised, one coat was enough to get shades and highlights with good coverage. I did some color tests on misprints with a white base and a yellower off white. The off white subdued the colors a bit, but the paints looked good over both bases. I am excited to begin painting in earnest with the speedpaints. Cleaning the palette was easy, and the paint came right off with a little water. The paints themselves are easy to use and I would recommend it to beginners who might not want to do several layers for the effect they want. It is also good for painting an army quickly. The paints are thin and don't require thinning, which removes another step from painting. All in all, I think this is a good product and serves its intended purpose.

I’ve heard about Citadel contrast paints but never really understood the concept. Saw a video on these army painter speedpaints and finally understood, so I decided to order them, as many say these are better and far cheaper than Citadel’s. Used them for the first time today to paint about three dozen miniatures and they are great! They really do speed things up. The colors are vibrant and useful. I am also amazed at the value. This pack is 50 (!!) containers of paint for only $130. That’s a crazy value. Only one issue: one container did get stuck and when I tried to force the paint out, it exploded all over. Be careful, shake them a lot, and don’t put too much pressure on them if the paint isn’t coming out. The seals on the plastic dropper tops aren’t the best. Apart from that I’m very happy with this set.

I’m newer to painting, so I wanted to get a set of these and try them out. I had watched a few videos on YouTube. Anyways, I’m super happy with this purchase. I love the paint and the variety of colors. You have to get used to using the speed paint. It’s a little different than acrylic but I like it more. One of my paints was missing and I got a duplicate of another… but whatever I’m not sweating that one little one. But you could tell my box had been opened and rummage through all the paints were scattered all throughout the product. No paint was leaking or anything, but it made me wonder a little bit to the validity of the product at first. They seem to be legit though.

This is a great selection of colors in a paint that makes it easy getting primed minis to the table looking good. The price is good and the paints work even better than I'd have expected, to the point where I find myself using them instead of traditional paints even when I have plenty of time. Metallics and regular colors are both excellent. A nice prime and highlight job underneath goes a long way. I dig these a lot.

In my experience, this paint performs better than Citadel. The coverage is smooth, the colors layer nicely, and I’ve had far fewer issues with chalking or streaking. It thins well for detail work without turning watery, and the finish stays clean even on small scale minis. For miniature painters looking for good flow, rich pigment, and easy application, this is a standout brand — and for me, it beats Citadel in both value and usability.

Overall this a good set but I found it lacking in skin tones and greys. Peachy flesh is your only option for fair skin. There is no barbarian flesh or elven flesh. Battleship grey and Ashen stone are the only light grey options and they don’t adhere well. There is also no mid grey. You need to take something like burnt moss and add medium to get to lighter greys. There is also no white speedpaint in this set. So save yourself the trouble and get the larger set that includes all of the metallic speed paints, greys, whites, and skin tones so you don’t have to buy them separately. Speed paints are definitely worth it so go for bigger value.

I highly recommend any of these sets. I haven’t painted in over 30 years and this set is just right. The paint colors are great. This type of paint was actually recommended to me by a friend and once I got my hands on this and tried out a few colors I was very impressed. Paint isn’t thick either. It does run thin but there are so many possibilities with them. Great set! Highly recommended!

I don't usually write reviews, but this product was so helpful to me that I want other hobbyists to be able benefit as well. I was quite skeptical about how effective this would be for quickly painting miniatures, but I am very happy with the results. If you want to get an impressive "table ready" coat of paint on your minis quickly, then this is for you. Now it's not going to replace traditional acrylic paint if you want to do layering and lots of detail work, but if you want speed without sacrificing much in the way of overall look then this box is really good. My only two complaints are that: the dried colors are sometimes pretty far from the color on the label (paint some samples until you know the colors better) and that the MSRP is too steep. If you can find these on sale, then definitely go for this box! Tips: - paint some samples so you know how things look when dry. You can't really trust the labels. - do a black prime with grey/beige "zenithal", then dry brush the whole thing in bright white to bring out the highlights. Then slap a coat of this paint on and give it some time to dry and you're gonna love the result. - the metallics included are... Weird. Don't mix them, instead use them like you'd use a wash by thinning them out and painting over a light undercoat. If you want metallic color (like painted armor or something) then just use that color over a silver undercoat (I recommend Vallejo silver from their game color line) It usually takes me days to paint a warband of tenish little dudes, but I painted over 20 minis in like 5 hours. Less tedious and actually kind of fun!

VOTO COMPLESSIVO: 90/100 LO SPEEDPAINT 2.0 MEGASET DI THE ARMY PAINTER: Felicissimo di aver avuto questo megaset in anteprima grazie a The Army Painter, sono rimasto poi favorevolmente colpito perchè è proprio quello che cercavo da tempo per dare colore alle mie miniature da gioco e farlo in poco tempo, con un risultato bello e singolare. Questo set ha la versione 2.0 di questa varietà di speedpaint perchè la formula della prima edizione si scomponeva troppo ed era poco efficace con un effetto finale carente sotto vari aspetti anche se l’idea alla base era buona e qui quei problemi sembrano risolti. I colori speedpaint sono una speciale categoria di acrilici chimicamente composti in modo tale che possano con una passata sola creare le luci e le ombre sul modello velocizzando di molto il tempo di realizzazione della figura discriminando poi in modo automatico, grazie alla importante diluizione del colore ed alla sua composizione, i volumi ed i recessi così da lasciare concentrato più pigmento scuro nei recessi e più chiaro nelle sporgenze un po’ come un lavaggio o shade ma qui rimane anche il colore base in tutte le sue sfumature. Questo effetto però c'è da ammettere che non è a livello di un lavoro ben fatto di layering con apposizione diretta di luci ombre e conseguenti velature ma è un compromesso ottimale a dare quel po’ di qualità in più con un risparmio di tempo molto grande e per questo li reputo colori eccellenti per arrivare ad un livello tabletop per le miniature ma di certo non vanno usati per competizioni o decorazioni ad alto dettaglio e qualità perchè in quel caso è bene usare altre tecniche. Con questi colori è praticamente impossibile aggiungere una seconda luce posteriore o locale (come quella di una fiamma tra le mani o di una sfera di cristallo che emette luce blu) perché vista la diluizione diventa più complicato con questi speedpaint che con gli acrilici semplici e non è possibile usarli a velatura oppure mischiarli tra di loro per la ricerca di un mezzotono introvabile sulla wet palette (è difatti raccomandata la hard palette fornita)… viene un miscuglio scomposto che non si spande e non si raccoglie a dovere per essere dato, insomma vanno apposti sulla miniatura e basta e non ci sono altre possibilità. Una tecnica elaborata per aumentare la resa di colorazione di questa tipologia di colori è lo SLAPCHOP che preso per assodato lo scarso effetto di questi colori nell’esaltare le luci prevede un passaggio di primer nero o scuro su tutta la miniatura seguito da un drybrush chiaro che poi aiuterà molto a risaltare i punti in luce e la resa finale devo ammettere che è migliore ma è una scelta di stile volerlo fare o meno, io la preferisco. Detto questo, il set è composto da 50 boccette che accontentano ogni sfumatura di colore di cui 3 metallizzati, i classici oro argento e bronzo, ed una boccetta di medium che in realtà non userei con questi speedpaint tranne nell’occasione di rabbocco di qualche boccetta lasciata aperta e quindi meno diluita di quanto dovrebbe essere ma resta comunque comodo da usare al posto dell’acqua con gli acrilici base di altri set. I pennelli forniti sono 2 di cui uno è difficile da usare essendo molto duro nelle setole anche se di grandezza ottimale per la stesura di questi speedpaint molto diluiti mentre l'altro è ottimale, comunque io l’ho usati entrambi avendo questi dimensioni diverse anche perchè la stesura non dev’essere strettamente precisa e ferma quindi un pennello di qualità medio bassa va bene la hard palette fornita è molto semplice ma aiuta. Considerate quindi tutte le caratteristiche di questo set di colori The Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 megaset da 50 boccette io lo consiglio perchè ha una varietà di sfumature di colore enorme ed è attualmente l’ideale per colorare in modo rapido delle miniature per giocare al tavolo con un certo stile. Il costo è di 180 euro che è conveniente rispetto al costo delle singole boccette che credo qui vengano usate tutte prima o poi e non andrà come con altri set dove alcune boccette si invecchiano senza essere mai usate. Siempre estamos buscando nuevos pinceles y pinturas para pintar miniaturas y hasta ahora no habíamos probado pinturas de tipo speedpaint. La verdad es que tenía muchísimas ganas de hacerlo para ver que conseguiamos y si, de verdad, las minis quedaban bien ahorrando algo de tiempo. Me daba un poco de miedo invertir en speedpaint con los problemas que había leído de reactivación de la pintura pero, al ver este set gigante con, además, la segunda versión de estas speedpaint me pareció que era el momento de probarlas. De momento no hemos podido darles muchísima caña, pero si hemos podido comprobar varios detalles bastante importantes: - Efectivamente, esta segunda versión no se reactiva :) Así que puedes "jugar" dando capas rápidas de speedpaint y luego perfilar, barnizar o lo que quieras para mejorar el detalle y acabado de las minis. - La calidad de las pinturas está muy bien, es bastante líquida lo que facilita su aplicación y que queden capas finas en las zonas lisas mientras puedes ajustar la pintura que se acumula en los huecos para conseguir el efecto deseado. - Me ha encantado que los botes ya vengan con bolitas para agitar las pinturas, ¡es todo un detallazo! Solo hay que tener cuidado (como siempre) de que no bloqueen el gotero y en consecuencia la salida de pintura. - El set de colores es muy amplio y, personalmente, me parecen bastante acertados ya que tienes casi para cualquier elemento sin necesidad de mezclar. Aún así, puedes mezclar pinturas si quieres conseguir otras tonalidades. - Un detalle a tener en cuenta si estás acostumbrado a pintar con pinturas "normales" es que estas son muy transparentes, así que un primer negro con un dry en blanco como es típico hacer, no va a quedar muy bien (nosotros hemos cometido este error porque ya teníamos las minis imprimadas de esta forma). Si lo haces de esta forma, los colores van a quedar muy muy oscuros y no se van a apreciar bien, además las diferencias entre zonas oscuras y de luz van a ser demasiado abruptas. Como indican las instrucciones de las pinturas, lo mejor es imprimar con blanco o colores claros. Nosotros probaremos con un gris claro y dry blanco a ver si conseguimos el efecto que buscamos. - Efectivemente, si solo pintas con speedpaint (y no te entretienes después en añadir detalles, luces...) se puede pintar bastante más rápido, especialmente para calidad tabletop. Sin embargo, no se puede esperar que el resultado sea el mismo (ni cercano) al que se consigue con pintura "normal". Las minis quedan resultonas, aunque con un aspecto algo más "sucio" que a nosotros no nos termina de convencer a falta de hacer muchas más pruebas. - Finalmente, el detalle de incluir un pincel especial para speedpaint, otro para base/detalles y una paleta para las pinturas está muy bien. Los pinceles son de buena calidad (aunque sinceramente no noto nada muy especial en el de speedpaint) y la paleta es útil para este tipo de pinturas que son muy líquidas y no hay que mezclar con agua. En resumen, creo que es un set espectacular en cuanto a cantidad de pinturas y variedad de colores, con una calidad muy buena y unos resultados que te convencerán dependiendo de lo que busques, la calidad objetivo y, por su puesto, también tu destreza.
